Our mission is to promote meaningful youth participation through empowerment and advocacy in our key thematic areas: Active Citizenship, Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR), and a dedicated Research Unit. As we expand our operations, we are seeking a dynamic, experienced, and self-motivated individual for the following position.
Position: Program Coordinator, #UniteForResilience Campaign (1)
Duty Station: YUWA Central Office, Kathmandu with frequent field visits to project sites.
Reports to: Executive Board Member of YUWA
Contract Type: Fixed-term
Duration: 6 months with a possibility of expansion
Position Summary
The Program Coordinator will be the lead implementer for the #UniteForResilience: Youth-Led Campaign for Climate Justice, Gender Equity & Systemic Change project, a major initiative in collaboration with Plan International Nepal. The core responsibility of this role is the overall management and coordination of the project, including the supervision and guidance of activities implemented by the project team. The Program Coordinator will be a key part of the Program Department, focusing on this project while contributing to the overall mission of YUWA.
Key Responsibilities
1. Project Management and Implementation:
- Lead the execution of all project activities as outlined in the annual work plan, ensuring the timely delivery of high-quality outputs for the "#UniteForResilience" campaign.
- Coordinate and facilitate activities across all five strategic pathways: Climate Education, Storytelling & Visibility, Youth Leadership, Policy Advocacy, and Systems & Sustainability.
- Manage the project budget in close collaboration with the Finance team.
- Troubleshoot and resolve project challenges, seeking input from the executive board when needed.
2. Monitoring, Evaluation, and Reporting:
- Develop comprehensive reports aligned with YUWA's and the funder's requirements for the "#UniteForResilience" project.
- Contribute to quarterly progress reports and annual organizational reports based on project outcomes.
- Ensure that learning outcomes from the project are effectively shared and integrated into new programs.
- Utilize monitoring tools such as pre- and post-tests, feedback forms, and social media analytics to track project progress.
3. Coordination and Stakeholder Engagement:
- Serve as the primary point of contact for external stakeholders, including Plan International Nepal and local government authorities.
- Foster multi-stakeholder collaboration by engaging with existing youth networks, CSOs, government agencies, and climate coalitions.
- Schedule and organize meetings and events, and maintain a project agenda.
- Lead advocacy efforts related to youth leadership and contribute to the development of funding proposals.
- Build and maintain effective working relations with local authorities and other relevant stakeholders.
Qualifications and Skills
- A Bachelor's degree is required, and a Master's degree in a relevant field is preferred. Relevant fields include: Management, Environmental Science, Economics, Development Studies, Public Health, Education, Agriculture, Social Sciences, or a related field.
- Minimum 3-4 years of professional experience in project coordination, preferably within the civil society or non-profit sector.
- Prior experience with youth in Nepal on climate-related or social media campaigns is highly desirable.
- Proven experience in project coordination, grant, and report writing is a significant advantage.
- Strong facilitation and communication skills.
- Ability to plan, implement, and monitor multiple activities simultaneously.
- Proficiency in report writing and documentation.
- Willingness to travel frequently to rural and remote areas.
- Cultural sensitivity and ability to work with diverse stakeholders.
- Good command of English and Nepali language (written and spoken) is essential, with a preference for understanding local languages.
- Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, email, and the Internet is required.
