International Nepal Fellowship (Nepal) is a Non-Government Organization established in 1952 and serves the poor and disadvantaged people of Nepal to enable life to its fullness through health and development services. INF Nepal is currently working in health and community development services in the Gandaki, Lumbini, Karnali, and Sudurpashchim Provinces of Nepal.

INF Nepal Green Pasture Hospital and Rehabilitation Center is 100 bedded specialized hospital, serving people with specialized treatment and rehabilitation services in leprosy, spinal cord injuries & other neglected trauma, ear care, and palliative care is looking for qualified, skilled, service-oriented, and committed Nepali citizens who can lead the following role and share our vision, mission, and value.

About Palliative Care and Chronic Disease Services And SUNITA Project:

The Palliative Care and Chronic Disease (PCCD) service is offering clinical and community-based palliative care services. SUNITA Project is a three-year plan in which INF Nepal will be developing a Palliative Care and Chronic Disease (PCCD) Centre of Excellence at Green Pastures Hospital through clinical services, research, and education/training. This project will support the National Strategy for Palliative Care, which was developed by palliative care experts in Nepal and was adopted by the Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP). Over the period of three years, it will design, implement, and test a rural healthcare intervention in palliative care in Lamjung, Rukum, Surkhet, Kapilvastu, and Banke.

Purpose of the Job:

The Palliative Care (PC) Occupational Therapy Assistant need to assess and treat patients with Chronic diseases/disabilities according to their therapeutic needs, working with them and their families towards the maximum possible recovery of personal independence and functional ability both whilst in the hospital and in their homes after discharge.

The Occupational Therapy Assistant as part of the multidisciplinary PC team providing a holistic clinical service, will provide an Occupational Therapy service enabling adults and children with life-limiting illnesses and their families to live as independently as possible with suitable support. The occupational therapy Assistant is a key member of the PC team and will be expected to contribute to the smooth running of PC services in the inpatient, outpatient, community, and day therapy settings; undertake appropriate PC training; provide direction to less experienced staff; contribute to education and training and be involved with the various ongoing research and audit projects undertaken by the service.

Required Qualifications, Skills, and Knowledge:

  • Must have Auxiliary Nurse Midwife (ANM) or Community Medical Assistant (CMA) with registration in Nepal’s respective council with 1 year of clinical work experience. Experience in the field of rehabilitation or palliative care is an advantage.
  • Work experience with people with disabilities, preferably with some voluntary work or personal experience, is an advantage.
  • Primary rehabilitation training, short-term courses, or experience is an advantage.
  • Good computer skills (Word/Excel), people skills, and communication skills.
  • Enthusiastic and self-motivated, a willingness to learn is an advantage.
  • A positive and proactive approach to patient care.
  • Able to keep all matters pertaining to work confidential.
  • To be honest and demonstrate integrity, No prejudice towards any people/group.
  • Good understanding of, and agreement with the values that are important to INF.

2. Position: Speech and Language Therapist

The post holder works as a member of the Speech and Language Therapy Department, providing assessments and therapy of speech and language disorders in children and adults, including speech, language, hearing, balance, and swallowing and communication rehabilitation. Inpatient, outpatient, and community services will be provided. Input to the nursing and clinical teams including specific training related to communication disorders. Participate in and develop specialty trainings.

Required Qualifications, Skills and Knowledge: 

  • Must have a bachelor’s degree in speech and language pathology or audiology with registered with Nepal Health Professional Council (NHPC) or be eligible within the next year.
  • Practical experience in audiology and speech therapy or work experience in charity organisation is an advantage.
  • Publications in specialty journals and evidence of audit and research are an advantage.
  • Must be a good team player with desire to teach and train.
  • Good computer knowledge MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, flexible and self-motivated.
  • Uses initiative and is able to work under limited supervision.
  • Good written and spoken communication, networking and interpersonal skills in English.
  • Readiness to work with and promote care for low-income clients.
  • Able to ensure and demonstrate INF Values in work and dealing with others, including treating clients with dignity and respect.
