Lutheran World Relief (LWR), which is part of Corus International, seeks to recruit result-oriented individuals to fill the following positions for Nepal Office, for a program strengthening disaster preparedness, governance, and resilience in Nepal’s Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces.
SENIOR PROJECT MANAGER – DRR, EMERGENCY AND HUMANITARIAN RESPONSE -

Reporting to the Senior Program Director, the Senior Project Manager leads LWR’s DRR, emergency and humanitarian response programming in Nepal, overseeing project design, implementation, and donor compliance in close coordination with federal and provincial government stakeholders. The position will be based in Kathmandu, Nepal with approximately 30% time in Provincial Ministries.
Key Roles and Responsibilities
- Lead the design and implementation of DRR, emergency and humanitarian response programming, ensuring all reports meet LWR, donor, and award agreement deadlines.
- Manage local implementing partners and monitor project quality, including financial performance, learning, and feedback for continuous improvement.
- Coordinate the establishment and strengthening of Rapid Response Teams, Search and Rescue Teams, Emergency Medical Teams, and Provincial Emergency Operations Centers (PEOCs).
- Lead needs assessments and draft high-quality assessment reports within 72 hours of a sudden onset emergency, and represent LWR at UN and peer-agency coordination forums.
- Maintain relationships with federal, provincial, and local governments, donors, UN agencies, and NGO partners; obtain necessary approvals from ministries and provincial authorities.
- Provide technical support on DRR, emergency health preparedness, shelter, WASH, and protection programming to partners and government counterparts.
- Identify and pursue new business development opportunities, including drafting concept notes and proposal content for DRR and humanitarian response funding.
- Supervise and mentor the Provincial DRR Specialists, M&E Officer, and Finance and Administration Officer.
Requirements, Skills and Abilities
- Bachelor’s degree and at least 7 years’ progressive experience designing, managing, and implementing DRR, emergency, or humanitarian response projects; Master’s degree desired.
- Strong understanding of DRR concepts, early warning systems, anticipatory action, climate resilience, and emergency health preparedness.
- Working knowledge of humanitarian standards such as CHS, HAP, and SPHERE.
- Demonstrated ability to write high-quality donor reports independently.
- Excellent communication and influencing skills in English and Nepali, both written and verbal.
- Proven ability to work effectively with government systems, particularly at the provincial level.
- Experience leading technical delivery and coordinating program implementation across multiple teams, including HQ and country offices.
- Proficiency in Office 365 (Word, Excel, SharePoint, PowerPoint).
- Willingness and ability to travel at least 30% of the time.
PROJECT MANAGER – PROVINCIAL DRR SPECIALIST (2 POSITIONS) -

Reporting to the Senior Project Manager, the Project Manager – Provincial DRR Specialist supports the implementation of LWR’s DRR, Emergency and Humanitarian Response Project at the provincial level, based at the Provincial Ministry in Karnali or Sudurpaschim. Working under the DRR, Emergency and Humanitarian Response Manager (DEHRM) and Senior Program Director, the position identifies and supports local partners, oversees project implementation, and represents LWR with government and non-government stakeholders. The role focuses on capacity building and strengthening coordination and networking with provincial government stakeholders particularly the Provincial Emergency Operations Center (PEOC) to ensure projects meet international and donor standards of implementation. The position will be based in Karnali Province and Sudurpaschim Province, Nepal
Key Roles and Responsibilities
- Strengthen the technical and institutional capacity of provincial government agencies, particularly the PEOC, on DRR, emergency preparedness, and humanitarian response.
- Build and maintain coordination with provincial government agencies, humanitarian partners, and other stakeholders, representing LWR in provincial coordination forums.
- Plan and facilitate training, workshops, and simulation exercises on DRR, emergency preparedness, health emergencies, and humanitarian response.
- Support the review and improvement of provincial DRR and emergency management policies, plans, and standard operating procedures, and strengthen use of DRR equipment and Early Warning Systems.
- Provide technical guidance and regular support to implementing partner organizations, monitoring performance and facilitating problem-solving.
- Maintain communication with government counterparts, implementing partners, and the LWR Nepal office, and prepare timely, high-quality progress reports.
- Work closely with the M&E Officer to maintain project data, case studies, and documentation.
Requirements, Skills and Abilities
- Bachelor’s degree and at least 5 years’ progressive experience designing, managing, implementing, and monitoring DRR, health preparedness, or humanitarian response projects.
- Good understanding of DRR concepts, early warning, anticipatory early action, climate resilience, and emergency health preparedness programming.
- Understanding of humanitarian standards such as CHS, HAP, and SPHERE.
- Excellent communication skills in English; Nepali language fluency required.
- Familiarity with humanitarian coordination systems internationally and in Nepal.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with government systems, mainly at the provincial level.
- Experience working with local NGOs and community organizations.
- Proficiency in Office 365 (Word, Excel, SharePoint, PowerPoint).
- Willingness and ability to travel at least 80% of the time.
FINANCE AND ADMINISTRATION OFFICER - (JOB ID: 4157447)
Reporting to the Country Finance and Administration Manager, the Finance and Administration Officer completes financial, accounting, and administrative operations and procedures for the Nepal program in line with organizational policy and internationally recognized accounting standards, with core functions in accounting, procurement, logistics, and HR support as needed. The position will be located in Kathmandu, Nepal
Key Roles and Responsibilities
- Maintain a filing system (hard copy and e-files) of supporting documentation, including payment and receipt vouchers, payroll and tax records, and bank reconciliations.
- Prepare and enter financial transactions, including payment requests, into accounting software, and prepare monthly cash advance requests for office operations.
- Extract and consolidate financial reports for country managers to prepare submissions to headquarters, and file taxes including applicable withholding taxes.
- Review advance requests and reconciliations for accuracy, track repayment of advances, and manage petty cash.
- Carry out administrative procurement processes, including file management, collecting estimates and bids, and running vendor vetting reports.
- Implement contractual terms for orders, receipt of goods, confirmation of services, and payments.
- Assist with logistics for staff travel, events, and workshops, and support general office administration.
- Collect and consolidate documentation needed for audit exercises.
Requirements, Skills and Abilities
- Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent four-year post-secondary degree) in finance or a related field from an accredited institution.
- A minimum of 3 years of related experience; experience in office administration and with international NGOs are advantages.
- Demonstrated ability to apply generally accepted accounting practices.
- Proficiency in accounting software, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and SharePoint; familiarity with QuickBooks or MIP a major advantage.
- Accuracy and attention to detail in accounting, tracking, monitoring, writing, editing, and filing.
- Ability to prioritize, organize, and manage multiple tasks efficiently, both independently and as part of a team.
- Professional proficiency in written and spoken English.
- Authorization to work legally in Nepal.
MONITORING, EVALUATION AND LEARNING (MEL) OFFICER - (JOB ID:4157449)
Reporting to the Senior Project Manager, the MEL Officer strengthens the project’s MEL system by ensuring high-quality data collection, analysis, reporting, and evidence generation, supporting monitoring, assessments, learning, and adaptive management, while building the capacity of implementing partners and promoting digital and AI-enabled solutions. The position will be based in Kathmandu, Nepal with approximately 30% time in Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces
Key Roles and Responsibilities
- Maintain and regularly update project databases, monitoring tools, indicators, supporting evidence, and other MEL documentation.
- Plan, coordinate, and support household surveys, focus group discussions, key informant interviews, rapid assessments, and baseline/endline studies.
- Review partners’ periodic narrative reports, Performance Monitoring Plans, and tracking tables to ensure data is correct, validated, and submitted on time.
- Analyze monitoring and assessment findings and support preparation of high-quality monthly, quarterly, and donor reports.
- Document Most Significant Change stories, lessons learned, innovations, and evidence-based best practices for knowledge sharing.
- Provide training, mentoring, and technical support to project staff and implementing partners on MEL systems and data quality assurance.
- Support development and maintenance of digital MEL databases, dashboards, and information management systems.
- Promote integration of AI, digital technologies, and innovative approaches to improve data collection, analysis, and reporting.
Requirements, Skills and Abilities
- Bachelor’s degree in social science, public health, public administration, or a related field.
- A minimum of 3 years of demonstrated experience in monitoring, evaluation, learning, or project management with I/NGOs, preferably in DRR or emergency health projects.
- Strong skills in programmatic data analysis, report writing, and documentation; knowledge of health management information systems (HMIS) a plus.
- Strong negotiation, coordination, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to perform multiple tasks and work under pressure.
- Fluent in English and Nepali, both speaking and writing.
- Willingness to contribute to and trust in team-based work.
