EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES

Corus International incorporating, Lutheran World Relief in Nepal is seeking to recruit suitably qualified and experienced candidates for an anticipated U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Food For Progress project in Nepal. The project is designed to address food security through improvements in the aquaculture value chain by incorporating climate smart technologies, improving end market linkages and incomes for farmers, increasing access to finance for farmers to expand trade of agricultural products, and strengthening the public and private sector.

GRANTS MANAGER: JOB ID- 3100598

Reporting to the Senior Finance Manager, the Grants Manager will serve as the grants focal person for the project. S/he will lead grants manual preparation, support in issuing performance-based grants via sub-grant agreements. S/he ensures all grant management procedures and systems are consistent with LWR's policies, rules and regulations. The position holder will ensure implementation of all donor's financial compliance requirements in coordination with the relevant budget holders. 

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Prepare grant's manual in compliance with donor and LWR compliance
  • Assist potential recipients to develop grant applications including targets and milestones for evaluation
  • Work with Senor Finance Manager and other management staff to issue performance-based grants via sub-grant agreements
  • Ensure all grant management procedures and systems are consistent with LWR's policies, rules and regulations
  • Work with Senior Finance Manager and program staff to ensure accurate administration of grants, including tracking payments, reviewing and producing relevant reports, and monitoring
  • Follow up, and provide support to grantees and sub-grantees in preparation of their financial, programmatic reports and audit reports and to ensure their timely submission
  • Review and verify financial, audit and narrative reports from implementing Partners and uploading them into LWR Phoenix system
  • Ensure implementation of all donor's financial compliance requirements in coordination with the relevant budget holders
  • Serve as an expert on grant compliance and interpretation of circulars and all applicable regulations, policies, and procedures and identify concerns to address with the implementing partners
  • Provide in-service training to program and finance staff as it relates to grant administration and organizational policies
  • Provide hands-on training to implementing partners as it relates to grant administration on circulars and compliance policies, including capacity building opportunities with grantees to continually support grantees as needed
  • Conduct regular visits to districts and partners project sites to ensure that financial controls and procedures are in place to effectively manage grants
  • Participate in design and execution of grant monitoring processes, including conducting assessments, collecting and analyzing data, documenting results, and identifying and discussing implications
  • Proactively interpret and assess gaps and provide technical assistance to grantees as necessary, including any grant modifications

Education & Experience:

  • The ideal candidate should have a Bachelor's degree in finance, economics, or similar field is needed. A master's degree in a similar field is desired.  5 years experience in Microsoft office computer applications, including excel Experience with accounting software such as QuickBooks is preferred.  Experience in issuing grants and management
  • S/he should have strong organizational skills, including time management and ability to meet deadlines. Knowledge of USDA funded financial policies and guidelines on grants would be an asset.
  • The candidate should have strong communication skills, fluency in Nepali and English is required. Knowledge of Bhojpuri and Maithili language will be an asset. The position is based on Matsya Project Team office Simara Bara.  S/he should be able to travel frequently.

HUMAN RESOURCE OFFICER: JOB ID -3170011

Reporting to the Country Director and working closely with the Regional HR Partner, s/he will serve as the HR focal point between office staff, management and U.S Headquarters. Ensure legal compliance in all areas of Human Resources in conjunction with statutory legislation.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Working closely with Regional HR ensure that country office adhere to employment standards, and CORUS policies and procedures. 
  • Responsible for staff payroll, pay slips, NSIF other benefit processing and management.
  • Working closely with Regional HR, Support in the development of personnel guidelines, manage, and implement personnel policies and procedures. 
  • Take lead on project recruitment, selection and onboarding of all employees. 
  • Prepare and disseminate internal and external vacancy publications and liaise with candidates and management at different stages of the recruitment process. 
  • Initiate and follow up on reference checks, ensure that other background checks e.g. Bridger are performed before offers are send to successful candidates. 
  • Update information on all staff members and manage different types of employment contracts e.g. Contract, Recruitment and performance management trackers. 
  • Counsel and advice staff on personal and work-related issues including providing guidance and direction to management team and employees on human resource related topics. 
  • With support from regional HR, work with staff and management to facilitate staff development and training opportunities. 
  • Communicate and ensure compliance and consistency with office practices and policies and compliance with all employment related laws
  • Assist Regional HR in disciplinary management, follow up and documentation. 
  • Manage staff benefits and act as the key liaison person with the insurance companies with regards to Medical and any other Insurances
  • Ensure appropriate leave authorization and administration as per policy
  • Manage and update HRIS e.g. EDSS, ADP, ApplicationPro and Culture Amp etc.
  • Maintain staff files in a confidential and safe manner
  • Do any other duty as assigned by his/her supervisor or designee

Qualifications & Experience

  • The ideal candidate should have a Bachelor of Art degree with a major in Business Administration or Human Resource Management with at least 3 years of relevant HR experience. HR Professional Membership will be an added advantage.  S/he should have experience required working with USG-funded programs, good understanding of Nepal Labor laws, NGO Act and other relevant laws.
  • S/he should have exceptional interpersonal, strong organizations skills and demonstrated ability to interact professionally with culturally and linguistically diverse staff, clients, and consultants coupled with strong written and verbal communication skills. The candidate should have fluency in Nepal & English Language

DRIVER: JOB ID - 3170003

Reporting to the Finance & Administration Officer, the Driver will provide driving services considering safety and security protocols. Drive vehicle defensively considering passenger safety. S/he will be responsible for maintenance the vehicle provisioned for the project through periodically checking of condition and carrying out maintenance. role will be to operate vehicles and transport cargo and/or passengers. S/he must have a safe driving record, be able and willing to follow all state and national driving laws, rules, and regulations. The driver will follow prearranged routes to destinations or use maps and GPS to navigate routes. S/he will maintain vehicle upkeep and cleanliness.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Drive vehicles as directed, and perform basic maintenance procedures to ensure the longest working life possible for these vital capital equipment
  • Keep track of maintenance record of vehicle (s) to ensure that service schedules are adhered to and to remind the employer in advance when vehicle service is due
  • Provide advance notice to drive project vehicle in the filed for LWR
  • Deliver parcels, letters and other relevant items to office and businesses as appropriate and while on safari when directed
  • Drive long distance with or without LWR Staff when required and adhere with the rules and regulations
  • Prepare and submit vehicle monitoring report, including records of vehicle operations, maintenance, expenses, and mileage at end of each month.

Qualification & Experience

The ideal candidate must have at least SLC level of education. S/he should have at least 3 years' experience with good driving record with no major accidents in the past 3 years.  The candidate must have at least four wheelers Driver's valid license from Transportation Office. Experience working in NGO setting is will be an added advantage.

The candidate should have good communication skills, with proficiency in Nepali and basic English Language. S/he should have ability to work in multicultural team. The position will be located in Bara District with frequent travel.
