Position Title: Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MEL) Associate

Duty Station: Siraha (at LPNGO office with frequent field visits)
Contract Duration: January 2026 – October 2026

About the Project
Samunnat Nepal (SN) is a national-level non-governmental organization working in the field of formal and non-formal education. The UNNATI Project, implemented in partnership with local NGO Sabal Nepal, aims to institutionalize and scale the UDAAN accelerated learning approach through Community Learning Centers (CLCs) and youth-led advocacy in Siraha District, Madhesh Province—a region with significant educational disparities, particularly among women and marginalized communities.
The project supports 1,166 out-of-school adolescents from Batar, Musahar, and Halkhor communities, addressing key challenges such as gender inequality, child marriage, and limited access to digital learning. Through strengthened CLCs, improved digital infrastructure, development of municipal non-formal education procedures, parental engagement sessions, and youth advocacy platforms, the project promotes inclusive, sustainable, and scalable education systems.
Position Purpose
The MEL Associate will ensure effective tracking of project progress, assess results against planned objectives, and promote evidence-based decision-making. The position is responsible for designing and implementing MEL systems, ensuring data quality, preparing timely reports, and facilitating learning for continuous program improvement in line with organizational and donor requirements.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
1. Monitoring and Evaluation
- Develop and implement project-specific MEL frameworks, indicators, and monitoring plans.
- Ensure timely and accurate collection, analysis, and reporting of quantitative and qualitative data.
- Track project outputs, outcomes, and impact against approved targets.
- Support field teams in routine monitoring activities and data quality assurance (DQA).
2. Data Management and Reporting
- Establish and maintain MEL databases, dashboards, and data management systems.
- Analyze program data and prepare MEL reports, success stories, and lessons learned.
- Contribute MEL inputs to donor reports (monthly, quarterly, annual, and final).
- Ensure proper documentation and archiving of project-related evidence.
3. Learning and Knowledge Management
- Develop case stories; manage high-quality photographs of program activities and participants; and produce periodic reports.
- Facilitate learning events, reflection meetings, and after-action reviews.
- Document best practices, innovations, challenges, and lessons learned.
- Promote adaptive management by sharing findings with program and management teams.
- Support knowledge sharing across projects and partners.
4. Accountability and Quality Assurance
- Support the establishment and management of Feedback and Complaint Response Mechanisms (FCRM).
- Ensure accountability to beneficiaries and stakeholders through participatory approaches.
- Monitor compliance with organizational policies, donor requirements, and ethical standards.
- Promote data protection and confidentiality in all MEL processes.
5. Capacity Building and Coordination
- Build the capacity of staff and partners on MEL tools, methodologies, and data use.
- Provide technical support to field teams on indicator tracking and data collection tools.
- Coordinate with program, finance, and operations teams to ensure integrated project implementation.
- Support partner organizations in strengthening their MEL systems.
- Support the collection of quotations and other required program-related supporting documents.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in any discipline (Bachelor in Education preferred) from a recognized university.
- At least two years of relevant work experience.
- Experience working with donor-funded projects is an advantage.
- Willingness to travel frequently within the project area.
Required Skills and Competencies
- Strong report-writing and presentation skills in English and Nepali.
- Strong analytical and data interpretation skills.
- Knowledge of qualitative and quantitative research methods.
- Excellent communication, facilitation, and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
- Strong problem-solving skills in a dynamic environment.
- Flexible, adaptable, and resilient with a positive attitude.
