USAID Trade and Competitiveness (Udhyam Nepal) Activity is a five-year project to increase Nepali private sector participation in targeted global value chains by making them competitive, resilient, and sustainable. The Activity will chart a new growth path for private companies by supporting them to capitalize on global opportunities– targeting quality and high value exports (of products and services). It aims to foster sustainable growth, in selected value chains, by incentivizing actors (both private and public) through investments, innovations, employment, and a business enabling environment to expand their integration into the global market. The Activity is working to achieve the goal through the following objectives:

• To increase access to market-based financial and non-financial services; 
• To increase productivity in sectors with high growth and employment potential; and 
• To improve the investment climate and business enabling environment, for targeted sectors.

We are seeking for five qualified candidates to fill the short-term consultancy in Monitoring and Evaluation based across four provinces (1 Koshi, 1 Bagmati, 1 Lumbini and 2 Gandaki) in Nepal, for a one-year contract (75 days of LOE, 15 days per quarter for 5 quarters for each consultant). 

POSITION DESCRIPTION

The Monitoring and Evaluation Consultant will support the work related to monitoring and evaluation of the activities implemented by the USAID Trade and Competitiveness in Koshi, Bagmati, Lumbini or Gandaki.

To carry out activities under this consultancy, the Consultant will require expertise in monitoring and evaluation preferably in the Nepal’s tourism, digitals services and agriculture sectors including skills in data collection, verification and validation, result monitoring, and capacity building of Activity’s counterparts, grantees or subcontractors in data reporting, documenting and monitoring.

The Consultants will report to the Monitoring and Evaluation Manager and work closely with the and Objective Leads.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Collect information and data from the Activity’s partners, grantees and other stakeholders
• Verify and validate the data at source
• Provide onsite capacity building support to counterparts, grantees or subcontractors
• Work as an enumerator during assessment and surveys as required
• Support with other monitoring and evaluation needs as required 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s Degree in Information Systems and Management or similar
• Minimum of 3 years of professional experience, including experience in donor-funded projects in development work (USAID experience is preferred)
• Familiar with monitoring and evaluation platform and data collection tools, such as Kobo, Survery123, etc.
• Demonstrate a high degree of independence, flexibility, and ability to meet strict deadlines;
• Strong organizational, interpersonal and attention to detail skills. 
• Team player; willing to take direction from project management and work with others.
• Flexible and adaptive personality.
• Ability to work effectively in a multicultural environment.
• Self-starter, willing to take initiative, remain accountable, take ownership of work product and escalate issues as appropriate.
• Dedicated to professional development, improvement and open to receiving constructive feedback.
• Fluent in written and spoken English.
• Have an activity Pan Account registration, proof will be requested.

Location: Multiple provinces, with potential travel. Note that Deloitte Consulting Overseas Projects, LLC will reimburse for lodging and transportation based on actuals for required field visits outside of homebase and according to the Activity’s Travel Policy.
