Job Title: Menstrual Health/Hygiene Advocacy Officer

Duration: Initially for one year subject to extend, to start from first week of May 2021

About MHM PA

Menstrual Health/Hygiene Partners’ Alliance (MHM PA), established in 2017, is a national network in the field of Dignified Menstruation in Nepal with over 80 active member organizations. The members are UN, bilateral government agencies, International Banks, INGOs, NGOs, Consulting, Medias, researchers, academicians, private sector and several professionals and individuals. One of the mandates of the Alliance is to support to the government of Nepal in menstruation related policies, plans, program and initiatives. We work on intersectoral policy advocacy (education, health, WASH, women and girls, human rights) in communities, schools and workplaces for breaking the silence, menstruation management and environmentally safe disposal of used menstrual products and eventually establishing dignified menstruation. 

Detailed Job Descriptions

Planning and implementation

  • Plan the work together with the Development Advisor with strategic guidance of the MHM PA Steering Committee/National Convener
  • Keep a calendar of relevant national, regional and global MHM conferences and events.
  • Organizing MHM related events and meetings
  • Conduct follow up and support as appropriate to implement the action plans of the MHM PA
  • Research on MHM happenings such as trainings, seminars, events, workshops, etc at global, regional, national and sub-national levels
  • Compile MHM related mapping, publications, articles, news, etc from the global and national levels
  • Lead social media, e.g. linkedin, facebook, tweeter, blog making etc for high visibility of MHM PA
  • Setting up website, digital library, monthly newsletter
  • Contribute to prepare articles, posts, press releases regarding MHM PA activities for relevant websites, social media, etc.

Coordination and reporting

  • Coordinate and communicate with relevant actors/cooperation partners / networks including MHM PA member organizations for harmonization in MHM PA activities 
  • Coordinate with media for visibility and dissemination of MHM happenings by the MHM PA
  • Organize meetings of MHM PA, steering committee and thematic working groups and prepare meeting notes
  • Prepare semi-annual and annual reports of the MHM PA 

Qualification and Competencies

The key competencies of the candidate will be: 

  • The minimum academic qualification will be master’s in public health, mass communication, development studies or other relevant field and the relevant work experiences will be minimum of five years
  • Experience on web management, graphic design will be added value. 
  • Demonstrated experience in report writing, article writing, blog writing, audio-visual development and editing
  • Proven network with media will be an asset.
  • Experience on research, meeting and workshop facilitation skill 
  • Analytical skills, dynamic, pro-active, positive/innovative attitude
  • Prior experience in MHM related research, advocacy, capacity development 
  • Excellent spoken and written skill in English is most desirable.
