Details / requirements:

DCA Nepal is looking for young & motivated female candidate for the position MEAL Associate (Trainee), who is keen to build foundation for challenging and rewarding career in an international development environment through hands-on knowledge and practical experience. This is one-year opportunity, based at Nepal Country Office, Kathmandu with field travel.

The Trainee will be guided by and report to MEAL Manager. She will support MEAL Manager to develop structured MEAL processes to generate ideas, tools&techniques, assist in database management and strengthening innovative relief efforts through presentations and assist to design smart forms in Magpi for periodic survey.  She will collect key problems of the communities including potential solutions optionsand also follow up with partner organization to upload periodic data like gift catalogue details, distribution tracker details, commercial vegetable farming details in magpi. 

Key responsibilities include:

  • Support in developing and strengthening MEAL procedures & systems in DCA Partner NGOs
  • Support in designing tools/techniques for conducting assessments such as baselines, needs identification/assessments, and studies or research
  • Support PNGOs in maintaining Activity Tracking Tool (ATT) and Indicator Tracking Tool (ITT) of DCA funded projects 
  • Review project documents submitted by PNGOs, ensure the quality of date/information and provide suggestions/inputs for further improvement of the logical frame work
  • Conduct field monitoring visits on a regular basis and monitor the overall progress on achievement of results and the sustainability of the project's results
  • Support Complaint Focal person in establishing, managing and strengthening Accountability to Beneficiaries mechanisms in DCA &PNGOs
  • Prepare monthly summary report based on the complaint and feedback database with enhanced data visualization
  • Provide list of key area for documentation with content to Communication Manager and work closely to produce stories that are particularly focusing on documenting program impacts and learning
  • Produce and share organizational learning from MEAL process with the DCA team and partner organizations and document those in Learning Log Sheet and Learning replication tracker
  • Assist partner organizations in improving learning and sharing mechanisms in their projects
  • Support MEAL Manager to mainstream CHS in project cycle management
  • Support on utilization of ICT tools such as Magpi application for better and more effective monitoring to enhance accountability

What you bring:

  • Master’s degree in social sciences, Disaster Risk Reduction, Environmental Science, Agriculture, Natural Resources Management, Development Studies, Gender Studies, Climate Change, International Relations or any other relevant field
  • Sound writing and documentation skills, sound verbal and written communication skills both in English and Nepali, 
  • Sound in Excel-database management, good coordination and networking skill. Should be proactive, creative and have great learning attitude and dynamism.  
  • Good organizational and prioritization proficiency skills, social media, and adequate knowledge on Microsoft office
  • Ability and willingness to work in team 
  • Self-motivation, creativity and an ability to perform without close supervision
