Background
ANSAB is a civil society organization that has been working for biodiversity conservation and livelihoods improvement across South Asia for over three decades. With a vision of rich biodiversity and prosperous communities, ANSAB places community empowerment and economic incentives at the heart of its approach, and has been consistently evolving, consolidating, institutionalizing and advancing the approaches and strategies for the promotion of community-based enterprises and value chains, natural resources management and biodiversity conservation, enabling policy environment and multi-stakeholders.
ANSAB is one of the partners implementing “Green Evolution: Pathways to Food System Transformation” project in Nepal with funding support from Welthungerhilfe (WHH) and the German Federal Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ). The GE project aims to strengthen local agroecological food systems through improved policy frameworks, operational structures, and multistakeholder cooperation at local, regional and national levels.
To support this project, ANSAB is looking for an Intern with agriculture background. This position will engage student in agroecology and food system research, helping them to identify gaps, challenges and opportunities while contributing to their academic growth and the broader mission of agri-food system transformation of the Green Evolution project.
POSITION: INTERN
Duty station: Surkhet with frequent field visit, if necessary.
Duration: Three effective months within the period from September 2025 to December 2025.

Major roles and responsibilities:
The Intern will work with the ANSAB’s agriculture department, and be responsible for the following responsibilities:
- Assist in organizing food system dialogues and awareness raising events at province and municipality levels in Karnali region.
- Work in the project sites in coordination/collaboration with GE partners and assist in:
- Collecting field data and information and documenting knowledge and evidences on agroecological practices and local food systems.
- Analyzing impact of agro-chemicals, ecological seeds and inputs use as well as their impacts on agriculture, human health and associated ecological, economic and social costs.
- Documenting best practices in agroecology and organic farming.
- Develop awareness raising materials, including short films for social media, posters, flyers and write blogs articles motivating producers towards ecological agriculture and consumers for safe and healthy foods.
Qualification and competencies:
- A Master’s degree in Agriculture, preferably in Agroecology (completed or in progress).
- Proficient in using data processing, analysis tools and software.
- Flexible and adaptable to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in both English and Nepali language.
- Good organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to plan and prioritize work under pressure and tight deadlines.
- Proficient in using information technologies and computer applications, particularly in MS Office Packages.
