“Upscaling Pollination to Enhance Biodiversity and Human Welfare in Nepal” is a four-year consortium project funded by the UK Government’s Darwin Initiatives, led by the University of Bristol (UK), and being implemented in Nepal by Local Initiatives for Biodiversity, Research and Development (LI-BIRD), HERD International, Agriculture and Forestry University (AFU), and Tribhuvan University (TU), starting from October 2025.
This project will be implemented in parts of Karnali, Gandaki and Madhesh provinces in partnership with Department of Agriculture, Provincial Ministries of Land Management, Agriculture and Cooperative (MoLMAC), Federation of Nepalese Beek Keepers (FNBK) and International Center for Integrated Mountain Development (ICIMOD). The project aims to improve conservation and management of pollinators across Nepal and the Himalayan region leading to healthier communities, economies and ecosystems.

1. Project Leader (Level 9) - (1): To be based at Programme Coordination Office, Sanepa, Lalitpur
Job Summary: The Project Leader (PL) will report to Strategic Programme (SP) Lead- Biodiversity and Ecosystem Health and will be responsible for the overall management of the project by providing strong leadership in planning, execution, monitoring, coordination, documentation and reporting. PL needs to ensure efficient management of the project resources, including staff and budget, building relationships and partnerships with key stakeholders, including donors, local, provincial and federal governments, and relevant networks for leveraging resources and building synergies to achieve project outcomes. The PL needs to work closely with other consortium project partners and collaborators, government offices particularly with DoA, MoLMACs of target provinces and relevant other stakeholders for effective and timely delivery of project activities including preparation of national pollinator strategy and action plan for the country.
Education and Experience: Master’s Degree in Agroecology, Plant Protection, Entomology or other similar disciplines with five years of relevant experience. Experienced on managing multi-partner research and development projects, coordination with governmental line agencies. Candidates with experience of work in agrobiodiversity, insect pollination or other agroecosystem management, bee keeping enterprise and honey value chain development and policy discourse related projects in the implementation and reporting of projects are encouraged to apply.
