FAIRMED is a Swiss development organization dedicated to work with its motto “Health for the Poorest”. The organization plays an important role in providing health care access to the marginalized communities and individuals who are prone to diseases, disability, and poverty. The core focus of FAIRMED's work in Nepal is Neglected Tropical Diseases (NTDs) – Leprosy, LF, Kalaazar, etc and Maternal and Neonatal Health (MNH), while it interweaves GESI and Disability Inclusive Development (DID) as cross cutting themes into its programs to strengthen the health system and increase the uptake of public health services.

About the position

The Position will head FAIRMED Nepal’s program by taking lead in program planning and implementation. The major function of this position is to assist the Country Coordinator in strengthening the quality standards of FM programs through various strategies such as improving staff capacity, timely guidance and follow ups, adequate processes of project cycle management, partnership management and quality reporting. The position will also play crucial role in Institutional Fund Raising (IFR) at country level through preparing solicitated as well as unsolicited proposals and concept notes to help diversify & strengthen its funding base and expanding the program portfolio. The position will work closely with the CC to follow the SDG’s concept of “Universal Health Coverage, and the FAIRMED approach of “Leave No One Behind during the Project Cycle Management. The position is expected to drive the Team to achieve the desired changes/results in the lives of the beneficiaries. 

Major job responsibilities

  1. Support projects through technical backstopping and carry out supportive supervision and link with the roles of PQC and M&E staff in across the projects.

  2. Work with Country Coordinator, and Finance & Operation Chief to develop initiate new proposals and concept notes for the Institutional Fund-Raising efforts by taking lead in intelligence gathering for proposal calls (tracking calls), that are in donor’s pipeline, also those calls that are published and identifying potential collaborators and forming of consortium ahead of calls.

  3. Lead the process of developing concept notes, and proposals, Collaborate with Fundraising unit of Bern office and coordinate the writing of concept notes /proposal or unsolicited concept notes/proposals targeting for potential donors.

  4. Support projects in carrying out strategic activities especially the LNOB approach in all projects during design to implementation process and ensure proper documentation of learning & findings and exchange of learning for replication.

  5. Assist Country Coordinator in staff development & supervision, and effective communication in the entire team and Partner NGOs,

  6. Support in networking, coordination, and representation specially with EDCD (LCDMS/NTDs) FWD under MoHP, Province Government and stakeholders and like-minded organizations for synergy building and resource mobilization.

  7. Work closely with the Finance & Operation unit and the project team to ensure that the financial management of the project is running smoothly and in an efficient manner.

  8. Maintain collaboration and communication with HQ/Bern and global teams as required.

Required Qualifications and Experiences

  1. Atleast Master’s degree in public health or related field from a recognized Institution with at least 10 years of work experience in leading program management in development sector

  2. Excellent knowledge of donor compliance rules and/or ability to research and develop an understanding of rules.

  3. Staff Supervision & development, Team building and budget management skills and experience 

  4. Excellent documentation skills with strong analytical, networking and communication skills Willingness and enthusiasm to work in challenging and difficult situations.

  5. Experience & skills on advocacy, and influencing stakeholders for collaboration and resource sharing

  6. Ability to effectively represent the organization and FAIRMED’s work in various forums
