Reports to: Education Manager/Head of Education Program/Child Protection Coordinator

Works closely with: School Management Committees, teachers, parents’ groups, wards, local police

PROJECT CONTEXT

Ghyangfedi in Nuwakot is widely recognized as a high-risk area for girls’ trafficking, and early marriage. In response, the Rural Community Development Project has provisioned Girls Guides as community-based change agents to prevent trafficking, strengthen girls’ protection mechanisms, promote safe and empower adolescent girls with life skills, self-defence, awareness, and leadership.

The Girls Guide will work closely with schools, families, community groups, local governments, and protection stakeholders to minimize trafficking risks and ensure the safety, dignity, and rights of girls.

OVERALL JOB GOAL

  • To prevent girls’ trafficking through awareness, early identification, and community vigilance
  • To empower adolescent girls with knowledge, confidence, and life skills
  • To promote girls’ continued education, safety, and informed decision-making
  • To strengthen referral and support systems for at-risk and survivor girls

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Trafficking Prevention and Protection

  • Conduct regular awareness sessions on girls’ trafficking, safe migration, early marriage, and gender-based violence in schools and communities
  • Identify girls at risk of trafficking, unsafe labor, or exploitation and provide timely support or
  • referrals
  • Support community surveillance and protection mechanisms to monitor suspicious movement or recruitment practices
  • Coordinate with police, Women, Children and Senior Citizen Service Centers, and NGOs for
  • case referrals and follow-up

Girls’ Empowerment and Life Skills Development

  • Facilitate girls’ group meetings, clubs, and peer-learning sessions
  • Provide life skills education including self-esteem, communication, leadership, decision- making, and personal safety
  • Provide Self Defence Training
  • Promote menstrual hygiene management (MHM), reproductive health, and psychosocial well- being
  • Encourage girls’ participation in school and community decision-making platforms

Education Retention and Support

  • Support girls to stay in school by tracking attendance and addressing dropout risks
  • Engage with parents and caregivers to promote the value of girls’ education
  • Link vulnerable girls with scholarships, educational materials, or social protection schemes where applicable

Community Engagement and Social Mobilization

  • Conduct household visits and community dialogues on girls’ rights and protection
  • Mobilize parents, mothers’ groups, youth clubs, and local leaders against trafficking practices
  • Support community campaigns, events, and advocacy initiatives related to child and girls’ protection

Coordination, Documentation, and Reporting

  • Maintain records of girls’ groups, sessions conducted, and cases identified
  • Prepare regular activity reports, case notes, and success stories
  • Participate in project meetings, trainings, and reflection workshops

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum educational qualification: Bachelor Degree in any discipline
  • Female candidate from local community preferred
  • At least 1–2 years of experience working with adolescent girls, child protection, education, or community development
  • Experience in anti-trafficking, GBV prevention, or girls’
  • empowerment is a strong asset
  • Experience in Martial arts and self defence training (Preferred)

COMPETENCIES

  • Strong communication and facilitation skills with adolescent girls and communities
  • Good understanding of girls’ trafficking, child protection, and gender equality issues
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive cases ethically
  • Basic documentation and reporting skills
  • Ability to work independently in remote community settings
  • Ability of present martial arts
