National Federation of Women Living with HIV and AIDS (NFWLHA), formerly known as the Women’s Network against HIV & AIDS (WONAHA), was initially established as a loose network in 2006 and was officially registered in 2007 with a vision to create a just and equitable society for women and children infected and affected with HIV, so that they can live productive, empowered and dignified life, free from stigma and discrimination. Underpinned with guiding principles of gender equity and human rights, evidence-based planning, programming and policy-advocacy, NFWLHA has broadened its strategic intervention areas over the last nine years, focusing mainly on strengthening and capacity development of network, knowledge management for evidence-based policy advocacy and community system strengthening.

Currently, NFWLHA is implementing the Treatment, Care and Support Program in 25 districts across Koshi, Madhesh, and Bagmati Provinces with support from the Global Fund through UNDP. To support the effective implementation of this program, NFWLHA invites applications from qualified and motivated candidates for the following position:

1. Position: Finance Assistant-1 (Treatment Care and Support Program)

Duty Station: NFWLHA Central Office, Kathmandu (Frequent travel to program district)

Reports/responsible to: Finance Head and Finance Coordinator

Supervisory Responsibilities: Program cum finance officers

1. Purpose of the Position:

The Finance Assistant will provide support to the finance department in managing the financial operations of NFWLHA. This will include assisting with accounting tasks, processing payments, maintaining financial records, and ensuring compliance with financial policies and procedures.

2. Major Responsibilities:

Accounting Support: 

  • Assist in day-to-day accounting operations, including data entry, record keeping, and financial transactions.
  • Prepare and process payments to vendors, partners, and staff.
  • Reconcile bank statements and other financial reports.
  • Maintain accurate and organized financial files and records.

Financial Management: 

  • Assist in the preparation of budgets and financial reports.
  • Track expenses and monitor budget performance.
  • Support the financial management of projects and programs.
  • Ensure compliance with financial policies, procedures, and donor requirements.

Administrative Support: 

  • Provide general administrative and clerical support to the finance department.
  • Assist with the preparation of audit documents and financial statements.
  • Manage petty cash and other financial transactions.

Reporting and recording

  • Maintain all financial records and books of account as per the NFWLHA policy.
  • Prepare a monthly statement of expenditure.
  • Assist the Administration and Finance Manager and Officer in preparing financial statements for the Program Manager, Coordinator, and the Executive Committee.
  • Produce financial information, and budget-monitoring information regularly to help the Administration and Finance Officer, Program Manager, and Coordinator to monitor budgets.

Meeting and communications

  • Participate in meetings to ensure that information is shared with appropriate staff members.
  • Fulfill and participate in finance-related meetings with concerned stakeholders and funding agencies in the absence of administration and finance officers.

Organizational Development

  • Follow NFWLHA’s formulated policies, internal rules and regulations and contribute to the achievement of long-term objectives of the organization.
  • Actively participate in the process of organizational change process and implement Strategic plan directions.   

3. Education and Qualification

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in finance or accounting, preferably in a non-profit organization.
  • Strong knowledge of basic accounting principles and procedures. 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other accounting software.   
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team. 
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.   
  • Fluency in Nepali and English (written and spoken).
  • Knowledge of HIV/AIDS-related issues, gender equity, and social inclusion (preferred).
  • Preference will be given to candidates with experience in Global Fund projects and working knowledge of FAMOUS, True Books, and Tally accounting software.
