BASE Organization (Backward Society Education) is a leading NGO officially registered in 1991 in Dang with DAO and SWC. BASE Organization has been working in the field of Education and Social Protection (Child Labor and Human Trafficking), Livelihood, Agriculture, Entrepreneurship and Employment, Health, Nutrition, WASH, Peace, Governance and Human rights, Climate Change Adaptation and Disaster Risk Reduction, GEDSI, Advocacy and Institutional Strengthening, infrastructure support, Maternal and Newborn Child Health and protection & promotion of traditional indigenous culture as well as increasingly working with beneficiaries from other marginalized communities.
BASE organization is implementing various projects including ‘Healthy Beginning: Preventing Hyperglycemia in Pregnancy in Nepal project’ in 5 districts of Lumbini Province (Rupandehi, Kapilvastu, Dang, Banke and Bardiya) with the financial support from Helen Keller International and funding from the World Diabetes Foundation (WDF), in collaboration with the Government of Nepal, including the Family Welfare Division (FWD), the Department of Health Services (DOHS), and the Province Health Directorate. The project aims to strengthen the prevention, early detection, and management of hyperglycemia in pregnancy (HIP), including gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM). Adopting a life-course approach, the project integrates NCD prevention into maternal health services while promoting healthy lifestyle practices.
BASE Organization intends to recruit qualified and experienced Nepalese citizen for the following position “subject to funding availability”:
Post: Field Officer – 1 based in Dang District.
Required Qualifications/ Competencies: Bachelor’s degree in nursing or a related field with at least 2-3 years of relevant experience in public health, maternal health, non-communicable diseases (NCDs), or nutrition programs at the district level or related development project.
Experiences required:
- Experience working with government health systems, preferably within Lumbini Province
- Experience working with local governments, District Health Offices, health facilities and community-level stakeholders.
- Comprehensive understanding of maternal health, including conditions such as hyperglycemia in Pregnancy/ Gestational Diabetes Mellitus.
- Demonstrated skills in coordination, facilitation and reporting.
- Coordinating with government, multiple stakeholders, and partners at district level. Good documentation and presentation skills in Nepali and English languages.
- Willingness and ability to travel frequently within the assigned district Possession of a scooter/ motorbike driving license. (Preferred)
