Forum for Protection of Public Interest (Pro Public), a non-profit and non-governmental organization established in 1991, is active in the areas of Strengthening Democracy, Governance, Peace and Education; Rule of Law, Access to Justice and Fundamental Human Rights Promotion and Strengthening; Natural Resource, Environmental and Climate Justice; Women Empowerment, Gender Justice, and Social  Inclusion; Promoting Integrity of CSOs/NGOs, Cooperatives and Private Sectors; Economic Development and Livelihood; and Mental Health and Psychosocial Support for the past 33 years. 

Now, it is looking for experienced, dynamic, self-motivated, and creative candidates for the following position to implement ‘Harmonizing Conservation: Enhancing Freshwater Ecosystem Health through Sustainable Fish Management,’ under the USAID Biodiversity (Jal Jangal) activity grant. 

USAID Biodiversity (Jal Jangal) is conserving nature, enhancing human well-being, and safeguarding Nepal’s biodiversity to improve the health of ecosystems, fight environmental crime, and improve the ability of communities to prepare for and adapt to impacts caused by climate change and natural disasters. The activity works to achieve measurable conservation targets within the country’s biodiversity-rich, terrestrial, and freshwater ecosystems, while increasing resilience to climate change and contributing to the inclusive and sustainable development of the Nepali people.

Position: Field Coordinator - 1 (full time)

Duration: Initially five months with possible extension (starting date: June 2024)

Location: Chaukune Rural Municipality of Surkhet District 

Benefits: NRs. 50,000.00 per month, 21% SSF and Dashain allowance in prorate basis provisioned additionally

Education/Professional Qualifications and Skills:

  • At least completion of a Bachelor’s Degree in Agricultural Science; 
  • Minimum two years of work experience in the field of fishery development and conservation with fishery as a major subject; and a minimum three years of work experience required, if the candidate has a degree other than fishery;
  • Experience in report writing, program implementation & event facilitation, and interest in working in the project location; particularly on coordination, social mobilization, and facilitation with various actors along with Local Government; 
  • Fluent in Nepali and English, both spoken and written;
  • Proficiency in computer use i.e. Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, email/internet, Nepali typing (Preeti), etc;
  • Having the capacity to collaborate effectively within a diverse team and adeptly handle work pressure to ensure timely completion of project deadlines.
  • Candidates with driving license for motorcycle; 

Position: Field Officer -2 (Full time)

Duration: Initially five months with possible extension (starting date: June 2024)

Position: Consultant

Capacity enhancement of the Chaukune Rural Municipality for the implementation of the Aquatic Animal and Biodiversity Conservation Act (AABCA). Further Capacity development of Community Aquatic Animal Conservation Group (CAACG) members for effective management of river stretches and implementation and monitoring of AABCA and identify major fish and other key aquatic animal species. Total 25 days engagement. 

Education/Professional Qualifications and Skills:

At least a Master's Degree in a relevant discipline with a minimum of 5 years working experience in a similar field
