Local Initiatives for Biodiversity, Research, and Development (LI-BIRD) is a non-profit, non-governmental organization established in October 1995 with its Head Office in Pokhara and Programme Coordination Office in Lalitpur. LI-BIRD is committed to capitalizing on local initiatives for sustainable management of renewable natural resources and improving the livelihoods of rural people in Nepal.

EXPRESSION OF INTEREST FOR PROVIDING SERVICES RELATED TO CONDUCTING FEASIBILITY STUDY OF INNOVATIVE, SCALABLE AND FINANCIALLY VIABLE FARMER SEED ENTERPRISE MODEL FOR SOWING DIVERSITY=HARVESTING

SECURITY PROGRAMME, NEPAL

Sowing Diversity=Harvesting Security (SD=HS) programme is being implemented by Local Initiatives for Biodiversity, Research and Development (LI-BIRD) in partnership with Oxfam Nepal. The programme is implemented in Kailali, Kanchanpur, Doti and Dadeldhura districts, Sudurpaschim Province, Nepal with funding support from the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (SIDA) through Oxfam Novib. The project’s overall goal is ‘Indigenous people and smallholder farmers enjoy their farmers’ rights and have the capacity to access, develop and use plant genetic resources to improve their food and nutrition security’. The main objective of the proposed feasibility study is to examine and analyze existing and potential Farmer Seed Enterprise (FSE) models in Nepal with the aim of identifying the most innovative, scalable and financially viable model that provides the greatest benefits to indigenous and smallholder farmers.

LI-BIRD invites all the eligible consultant/firms to submit the sealed proposal for conducting the feasibility study of innovative, scalable and financially viable FSE model in Nepal. The bidders shall comply with all the details mentioned in Annex 2 while submitting the sealed proposal.

Proposal must be written in English language. Proposal received after the deadline will not be considered for evaluation.

Proposal that does not meet the requirements will be rejected. Proposal that meets the requirements and offer the best value for money will be selected.
