We research, artvocate, and collaborate to flourish diversity of art, amplify creativity in freedom and justice movements and strengthen the community of art and activism. By doing so, we will be able to protect culture, expand civic space and increase civic engagement in Nepal.

About Freedom Studio
Freedom Studio is a civic media and technology organization working to advance freedom of expression, creative civic participation, and social justice. Through research, advocacy, community engagement, and creative interventions, Freedom Studio collaborates with grassroots movements, youth, cultural workers, and creative communities across Nepal to strengthen participation, rights, and collective action.
Assignment Overview
Freedom Studio Nepal is seeking six enumerators to support a nationwide research initiative focused on artists, cultural workers, and creative communities in Nepal.
The assignment involves conducting surveys, reaching out to local creative communities, and supporting field-based data collection activities. One enumerator will be selected from each of the following provinces:
- Koshi Province (1 position)
- Madhesh Province (1 position)
- Gandaki Province (1 position)
- Lumbini Province (1 position)
- Karnali Province (1 position)
- Sudurpashchim Province (1 position)
Applicants must currently reside in the province for which they are applying.
Responsibilities
- Participate in online orientation and one in-person training sessions before the commencement of assignment.
- Conduct surveys with artists and cultural workers following the research methodology and survey protocols provided by the project team.
- Reach and engage artists, cultural practitioners, collectives, and creative communities within the assigned province.
- Record and submit survey responses accurately using digital data collection tools.
- Ensure informed consent and confidentiality throughout the data collection process.
- Attend regular virtual check-ins and coordination meetings with the research team.
- Report field progress, challenges, and observations to the assigned supervisor.
- Maintain data quality and uphold ethical standards throughout the assignment.
- Protect confidential information and prevent unauthorized disclosure of collected data.
- Contribute to the development of artist networks and the project database.
- Support any other research-related activities required for successful implementation of the assignment.
Job Specification
Qualification
- Completed +2 level education or higher.
- A Bachelor's degree, completed or currently being pursued, will be an advantage.
Experience
- Previous experience in surveys, research, fieldwork, community outreach, or data collection is preferred.
- Experience working with artists, cultural organizations, youth groups, community networks, or civil society initiatives will be an added advantage.
Other Requirements
- Strong communication skills in Nepali.
- Knowledge of local languages is desirable.
- Familiarity with local creative and cultural communities.
- Ability to travel within the assigned province as required.
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
- Access to a smartphone, laptop, and reliable internet connection.
- Basic familiarity with MS Office ecosystem, and online communication platforms.
Duration of Assignment
The assignment is expected to commence in December 2026. Exact dates will be communicated to selected candidates.
Compensation
Compensation will be provided in accordance with the approved project budget and assignment requirements.
Selection Process
Only a limited number of applicants will be shortlisted.
Shortlisted applicants will be invited to:
- A virtual written test and
- An online interview.
