‘Strengthening Capacity of Smallholder Farmers for Resilient Livelihood (SAKSHAM)’, project is implemented by LI-BIRD in Kanchanpur and Doti districts with funding support from the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Finland through FELM Nepal. The project aims to improve and diversify food and nutrition security by creating income opportunities in target communities and improving climate change adaptation and disaster risk management capacities of local governments, institutions and communities in these districts.

‘De-risking the transition to sustainable, climate-resilient agricultural models and safeguarding food production from climate shocks and stress in humanitarian contexts (SAFE)’ project is being implemented by LI-BIRD in Barbardiya Municipality of Bardiya district with funding support from the Novo Nordisk Foundation through DCA Nepal. The project aims at strengthening the evidence-base and exploring concrete models for easing and de-risking the transition to sustainable, climate-resilient agroecology-based food production and protecting local food and market system functionality for enhanced food security and self-reliance in the face of climate shocks and stresses in humanitarian settings.

‘Livelihood and Resilience Enhancement Project (LREP-II)’ is funded by NORAD through The Development Fund, Norway and implemented in Bardiya, Kailali and Humla districts. The project aims to improve food and nutrition security, income and resilience of small and marginal farm families in the western terai and hills of Nepal.

LI-BIRD invites applications from eligible and qualified Nepali citizens who are committed and have the ability to deliver results with the highest integrity for the following positions:

1) Climate Change and DRR Officer (Level 8)-1, (SAKSHAM Project, based at Site Office, Attariya, Kailali)

Job Summary: Reporting to Team Leader, Climate Change and DRR Officer will be responsible for leading the Climate Change and Disaster Risk Reduction component of the SAKSHAM Project. The Officer needs to provide support the Team Leader and project team in planning, execution, monitoring, coordination, documentation, and reporting. The officer’s key duties include efficient management of the project resources and  building relationships with donors; coordinating with local and provincial governments and other government institutions and private sectors for leveraging resources and building synergies in project implementation.

Education and Experience: Master’s Degree or equivalent from a recognized university in the field of Environmental Science, Agriculture, Natural Resource Management or related field, with 3 years of work experience in managing climate change and disaster risk-related projects.

2) DRR Officer (Level 7)-1, (SAFE Project, based at Jayanagar, Barbardiya Municipality, Bardiya)

Job Summary: Reporting to Team Leader (TL), the DRR Officer will support field-level implementation of the project, monitoring and documentation. The DRR Officer’s key duties include project planning, implementation and coordination; monitoring and quality control; data management, synthesis and support on report writing; communication, linkages and networking for resource leveraging and scaling up of potential innovations. The DRR Officer should ensure that the project is being implemented as per the project’s overall goal, objectives and outcomes.

Education and Experience: Master’s Degree or equivalent from a recognized university in the field of Environmental Science, Natural Resource Management or related field, with 2 years of work experience on Climate Change, Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR), Flood/Drought Hazard Mapping and analysis and Agromet Advisory.

3) Admin and Finance Assistant (Level 3 or 4)-1, (LREP and SAFE project, based at Site office, Bansgadhi Bardiya)

Job Summary: The Admin & Finance Assistant (AFA) will report to the Team Leader (LREP II) and will be primarily responsible for the account keeping of LREP II and SAFE projects. S/he will also support the project team on administration, procurement and logistics management. S/he will coordinate with relevant staff to ensure accounting and documentation of all financial transactions are carried out accurately and on time.

Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree or equivalent degree in commerce/management, with 2 years of relevant work experience or 10+2 in management with 3 years experience in relevant field.
