About the job:

Introduction:

Driver is responsible to safely transport visitors and passengers as well as various goods, store items and other materials to and from different locations in a timely manner. His responsibility also includes arranging regular cleaning and maintenance services for the vehicles and planning routes based on road terrain and traffic conditions.

This position is advertised at 40 hours per week.

Job description:

  1. Driving is to be done only when it is authorised to do so, and he must comply with Road Transport Movement Regulation – Joint Service Publication 800 (JSP 800) Chapter 10 (MOD Policy). He is to keep the record of his daily Driving Hours and not to exceed maximum daily driving and working hours in no circumstances.
  2. Carry out Vehicle Fault reporting procedure and chain by the individual as necessary.
  3. Carry out routine service and maintenance of vehicle as directed by Assistant Mechanical Transport Officer/Workshop Foreman (AMTO/Wksp FM).
  4. Keeping security of the vehicle both inside and outside the camp.
  5. Responsible for cleanliness of the vehicle – preparing it for formal inspection as directed by AMTO.
  6. Responsible for the possession of proper driver and vehicle documents i.e. driving licence/Form Mechanical Transport 600 (FMT 600) and signed F/MT 1001A (VUR) and vehicle document.
  7. He is to be familiar to drive heavy vehicle including PCV and take responsibilities of load and passengers. He is to ensure the safety of the passengers and the vehicle while parking outside of the MOD (Ministry of Defence) premises.
  8. He is to be familiar with the Speed Limits, Road Traffic Accident (RTA)/Breakdown procedure and documentation.
  9. He is to be smartly dressed at all the time.
  10. Deliver water and fuel in married quarter routinely.
  11. Account Equipment Table (ET) and Miscellaneous Account (MSA) items as per Equipment Table.
  12. Account and maintain all Complete Equipment Store (CES) item in accordance with CES list.
  13. He is responsible to ensure the use of seatbelts and child restraints.
  14. He is to ensure the roadworthiness of the vehicle prior to start the journey and must clean and refuel the vehicle on completion of the task.
  15. He is responsible to fix all L1 jobs where possible and report to Detail Clerk/ AMTO/ VMs if the vehicle is non-Taskworthy.
  16. Responsible for end of month vehicle close down procedure (i.e. close work tickets, refuelling vehicles) and return the W/Ticket to detail clerk.

Work Experience:

  • Minimum 3 years of work experience as a skilled driver with general knowledge of Driver’s Hours regulation
  • Basic knowledge of vehicle mechanical system.
  • Knowledge of Road Traffic Collision (RTC) procedure
  • Navigation skills
  • Knowledge on Complete Equipment Schedule and safe and correct use of these equipment
  • General knowledge of oil and lubrication
  • Basic knowledge of servicing and maintenance check of the vehicle
  • Preferred IT literate having knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Words/Excel/Outlook).

Qualification:

  • Academic – Minimum Secondary Education (SLC/SEE)
  • Technical – Driver must have valid Nepalese driving licence Cat A, B, F, G.
  • English – Medium level of Written and Spoken
  • Nepali – Medium level of Written and Spoken

  • Salary 70,223.00 NPR per month (Permanent).
  • Gratuity after completing 3 years’ service.
  • Dashain Bonus & Retirement Funds i.e. EPF and CIT (optional).

Security and Medical Check:

Successful candidates must meet the security and medical requirements before they can be appointed. The level of security needed is a Govt of Nepal Police Report for employment in Nepal. Pre employment medical check will be carried out by BGN.
