Background 

Welfare Association for Children Tikapur (WACT) (बाल कल्याण संघ-टिकापुर) is a non-government organization working in the areas of child well-being, community health, education, peace and transformational development since 1996. 

CONTEXT AND PROJECT SUMMARY

Welfare Association for Children Tikapur (WACT) & Nepal National Social Welfare Association (NNSWA) in partnership with World Vision International officially started to work in Kailali & Kanchanpur is implementing the Protection and Community Engagement and Sponsorship Plan (PCESP) programme as a major focused sector in both district. Through Protection & Community Engagement & Sponsorship Plan (P-CESP) programme, WACT & WVI Nepal is facilitating the community led support and care, strengthening of child protection system (formal & informal) to functionalize the services in regards to child wellbeing. The organization is also advocating child well-being and other important issues both locally and nationally. 

AIM AND OBJECTIVES OF CONSULTANCY SERVICE:

Overall objective

The PCESP program has envisioned messaging approach through street drama in this fiscal year and planned to conduct it in 6 local levels of Kailali and Kanchanpur district. 

Street drama is a powerful form of community engagement that can be engaged to raise awareness about critical social issues such as substance/drug abuse and early child marriage. The aim of conducting street drama in this context is to effectively communicate important messages, provoke thought, and stimulate discussion within the community in these burning issues which are also mentioned in Local Level Context Analysis (LLCA) report of respective local level of Kailali and Kanchanpur district. Here are the specific objectives:

The street drama could be effective method to raise awareness to educate the community about the dangers and consequences of substance/drug abuse, highlighting the impact on individuals, families, and the community as a whole. It is also helps to create awareness about the negative consequences of early child marriage, emphasizing the physical, emotional, and social implications for young girls & boys. Moreover, it supports  to provide information on preventive measures and available intervention services for those struggling with substance/drug abuse and also to sensitize community stakeholders about legal frameworks, support systems, and interventions aimed at preventing and addressing early child marriages.

Generally in the Nepalese context, the stereotypes and misconceptions surrounding substance/drug abuse & early child marriage fostering empathy and understanding for individuals facing addiction.

The key objective for this purposed activity and consultancy service is to encourage community members to actively participate in efforts to combat substance/drug abuse and early child marriage to foster a sense of responsibility and collective action within the community, encouraging individuals to play a role in preventing and addressing these deeply rooted social issues. Through this drama, actors also need to elaborate basic concept of sponsorship program importance in the community level. The drama must be conducted on public holidays or Saturday to engage more audiences. Krishnapur Muncipality coverage is small where street drama perfroamcne need to focus on ward level. 

The street drama performances is to resonate with diverse age groups, backgrounds, and interests within the community to ensure that the messages are culturally sensitive and relevant to the specific challenges faced by the community. It also assist the effectiveness of the street drama in terms of audience engagement and understanding and also to collect feedback from the community, gathering insights that can inform future awareness campaigns and interventions.

By addressing these objectives, street drama as a consultancy service can contribute significantly to foster positive change and promoting a healthier and more informed community.

Application 

Qualified and interested individual consultant/consultancy firms are requested to submit the technical and financial proposal with a CV in case of individual consultants and or CVs of team lead and the members and a brief company profile for consultancy firms by the 27th of January 2024. (Technical and Financial Hardcopy Proposals must be in separate envelopes).

Note: The organization may establish a 1-year Long Term Agreement (LTA) with the selected consultancy.
