We are currently seeking qualified candidates for the following positions for an anticipated Family Planning Opportunity in Nepal.

  • Social and Behavioral Change Communication (SBCC) Advisor
  • Technical Advisor - Private Sector & Social Marketing (PS&SM)

NOTE: All the positions are subject to actual award and funding.

1. Chief of Party (COP)

The CoP will provide strategic, managerial, technical leadership and management oversight to the project. S/he will oversee all aspects of project implementation, including program quality, personnel and financial management. S/he will ensure high quality of implementation of the project, coordinate regularly with the Government, the donors and other key stakeholders, which include other family planning partners. S/he will be responsible for timely and adequate implementation of project activities, deliverables, execution, monitoring and reporting of the project. The Chief of Party will manage a team of program and technical managers and work closely with the local NGO partners who will be the direct implementers of the project. This position is based in Kathmandu, Nepal, and will report to the Country Representative.

Minimum Requirements: 

At least a master’s degree or its international equivalent, MD degree is preferable with minimum of 10 years of experience managing and leading health projects especially family planning (FP)/ reproductive health (RH) and/or maternal/child health (MCH). Expertise in RH/FP; MCH; Health Finance; Systems Strengthening; at least 5 years’ experience in a managerial position such as Chief of Party or equivalent in Asia region/developing country with experience in programmatic and financial management of large donor-funded program, experience in USAID projects will be beneficial. Excellent oral and written communication skills in English; knowledge of local language will be an advantage. 

2. Technical Advisor- Family Planning & Sexual and Reproductive Health Services (FP&SRH)

The Technical Advisor -FP&SRH will contribute to the overall project through strategic planning, evidence generation and dissemination, coordination, and advocacy. S/he will also work with the project team to deliver, document and disseminate results to improve knowledge management. S/he will be responsible for the oversight and technical direction of service delivery, and community and household-level strategies and interventions to further reduce the unmet need for FP/SRH including adolescent sexual and reproductive health (ASRH) services. S/he will also provide technical support in improving access to FP/SRH including ASRH services, in the areas of reaching underserved populations, reaching male and female, adolescent girl and young women coordinating with a social marketing program, expanding community-based FP/SRH services, including contraception, increasing access to SRH information, including comprehensive sexuality education, develop different community outreach strategies, developing innovative approaches to increasing the contraceptive prevalence rate (CPR) identifying the needs of specific target groups such as very young adolescents, young mothers, and vulnerable girls. This position is based in Kathmandu, Nepal, and will report to the Chief of Party.

Minimum Requirements: 

At least a master’s degree or bachelor’s degree in medicine with an additional qualification in public health with specialization on SRH, would be advantageous with at least 5-8 years of experience and knowledge of FP&SRH including ASRH especially in the areas of implementation, and managing of public health/international development programs funded by US government or other international donors; excellent skills in capacity building and experience in conducting trainings of different categories of stakeholders. Excellent oral and written communication skills in English; knowledge of local language will be an advantage.

3. Social and Behavioral Change Communication (SBCC) Advisor

The SBCC Advisor will serve as the lead technical personnel for successful implementation of SBCC activities including use of information and communications technology (ICT). The advisor will advise and support the Chief of Party in the development and implementation of a comprehensive strategy to strengthen and sustain efforts to increase the demand for family planning services and products. The SBCC Advisor will work under the oversight of the Chief of Party to provide specialized technical support to the project team, government, partners, and local organizations to design, implement, monitor, and coordinate SBCC interventions. S/he will provide technical leadership and strategies with focus on increasing reach and quality of FP counselling and services, with a focus on the most vulnerable and marginalized, including adolescent and youth. This position is based in Kathmandu, Nepal, and will report to the Chief of Party.

Minimum Requirements: 

Master’s Degree or its international equivalent or post graduate in health communication, public health with minimum of 7 years of experience in designing and implementing social and behavior change intervention programs including ICT. Must have prior experience in social marketing, strategic communications, and behavior change communications preferred. Experience in using mass media and social networks to influence and gain public support, the negotiation and formation of alliances across interest groups is highly desirable. Excellent oral and written communication skills in English; knowledge of local language will be an advantage. 

4. Technical Advisor - Private Sector & Social Marketing (PS&SM)

The Technical Advisor- PS&SM will be responsible for ensuring effective coordination with the private/social marketing, family planning market players in the country and will be directly in charge of advocating for availability and acceptance of FP products in the country. S/he will have to work in close coordination with the government as well as the community to facilitate accessibility and availability of different FP products that large numbers of women choose to use. S/he will provide leadership, expert advice, technical support, and quality assurance to the project team to accelerate and sustain program objectives through private sector and social marketing approach, self-reliance and sustainability. This position is based in Kathmandu, Nepal, and will report to the Chief of Party.

Minimum Requirements:

At least a master’s degree or its advanced degree in business administration or related field with at least 7 years of experience in a senior commercial and/or social marketing, sales or private sector markets role, preferably in Nepal or in South Asia region. Experience in pharmaceutical or family planning industry would be a plus. Must possess technical expertise and deep understanding of health market dynamics, health systems and procurements, rural marketing, etc especially in relation to government. Must possess liasoning skill with a range of stakeholders, including the private and commercial players, project partners, donors, private sector, NGOs, and government departments. Excellent oral and written communication skills in English; knowledge of local language will be an advantage.
