About Samata Foundation
Established in 2009, Samata Foundation (SF) is a profit for not-sharing company registered under company Act 2063 BS, with the mission to contribute for the protection of human rights and dignity of Dalits and other marginalized groups in Nepal and globally. The vision of SF is to create a just and inclusive society free from all forms of discrimination and injustices. SF engages in research both empirical study, critical review of policies, and informed advocacy for the rights of marginalized people, especially from the perspective of Dalit social groups both from hill and Madesh. SF firmly believes that real changes can only be brought by producing critical youth mass of Dalit and non-Dalit, disseminating knowledge, encouraging civic participation and preparing individuals from Dalits to become the next generation leaders. In this backdrop, SF has been engaging in different thematic areas such as democracy and good governance, Dalit human right, social inclusion, land and livelihoods, food security, culture, education, media, Caste Gender and Sexuality, Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights and climate change.
Samata Foundation delivers various interventions through its projects in Nepal and beyond to attain its vision. The effective delivery and achievement of substantive project results are foundational to the evolution of the organization and the presence of a competent project team in place is imperative for the same. Samata Foundation is continually looking for individuals with the passion to work in Dalit issues and with experience that matches the requirements of both the team of employees and successful execution of the project. To make the hiring process quicker and employing the most suitable candidate, SF periodically opens Expression of Interest (EOI) for its roster inviting experienced and competent individuals from Dalit and marginalized communities to possibly join our team of staff.
This EOI is a public announcement issued by Samata Foundation to build a pre-approved list (or "roster") of qualified individuals or consultants who can be engaged for future assignments as needed- short term/ medium term, without going through a full recruitment process each time.
Criteria:
1. Type of engagement: Consultancy/Employment
2. Nationality: Nepali Citizen
3. Gender: Female and Sexual and Gender Minorites
4. Caste/ethnicity: Dalit and marginalized community
5. Academic qualification: at least bachelor’s degree in social science, public health, development studies, gender studies, environmental science, or any other relevant discipline.
6. Experience: at least 5 years in the relevant thematic areas.
7. Thematic areas of experience:
- Research
- Advocacy
- Dalit rights
- Women empowerment
- Caste, Gender, and Sexuality
- Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights
- Climate Change
- Livelihood
8. Travel: willingness to travel to the remote part of Nepal (on a need basis)
9. Workstation: As per the project requirement.
