for a Resource Person to support on research and analysis of Gender and Power in relation to child, early, and forced marriage (CEFM) in Madhesh province

Background

Rural Women’s Upliftment Association (RWUA) is a women led organization actively working for the rights of women and children in Madhesh province of Nepal. RWUA has collaborated with Save the Children International to conduct Gender and Power (GAP) analysis to explore the underlying root causes, and power differentials that causes child, early and forced marriage (CEFM) in Madhesh province.  

Research Objectives

To explore underlying root causes and intersecting power differential factors (gender, age, caste, religion, socio-economic status etc.) contributing to the prevalence of CEFM in Sarlahi and Mahottari districts of Madhesh Province. 

To examine the effectiveness of National and local laws, policies, institutional practices, systems, and services that prevent and respond to CEFM in provincial (Madhesh) and national level.

Assignment for Resource person and expected deliverables

RWUA and Save the Children have formed a Gender and Power (GAP) analysis team who will mainly be responsible for designing research protocol, tools, collect data, validate and finalize the reports. The team is looking for a resource person who will support in the research process particularly for following assignment and deliverables. 

Assignment Duration: 20 days (during July 2023 – November 2023) 

Qualification 

• At least Master’s Degree with 5 years of experience on conducting research related to gender equality and social inclusion, child rights, child protection etc. 
• Familiar with qualitative research techniques and thematic analysis
• Individual consultant and Consultancy firms both can be submit their proposal as per essential criteria. For the consultancy firm, they should submit the Firm registration certificate, VAT registration certificate, and Latest tax clearance certificate along with past experience in the related field. 

Supervision Arrangements

Consultants/consulting firms will report deliverables to the Executive Director of RWUA, and Technical Manager of Save the Children. The technical components of the brief will be finalized in consultation with the RWUA / SCI.

Budget

• Detail of costs with a number of days and schedule, to be submitted from a consultant.
• The budget for this assignment will be as per the procurement policy of the organization and tax will be deducted as per the government policy of Nepal.
