Wishing Welfare Nepal in collaboration with 'Bahadur Social Project' (BSP), which is a Spanish non-profit organization, is looking for a committed Agriculture Officer, based in the field (in Gandaki Rural Municipality, Gorkha), to implement project activities, working in a Chepang community. 

The Agriculture officer should agree to live under minimum conditions, based in the Wishing Welfare Nepal -BSP office in the field.

Job Purpose:

The organization wishes to recruit a full-time Agriculture Officer to join its team and oversee the project “livelihood improvement through Commercial Farming ” at ward 6, Gandaki Rural Municipality in Gorkha District. The position directly leads the implementation of the project results, coordinates project stakeholders, i.e. local authorities as per requirement. The position ensures efficient and timely implementation of the project according to a Detailed Implementation Plan (DIP) and budget, ensuring the success of the project as per project’s log frame.  Under the supervision of Program Director, the position is expected to implement activities/processes without compromising the quality. He/she has to develop the DIP, sustainability plan and appropriate exit strategy, training manual for Tomato, Cabbage& Cauliflower, Cucumber, Bee Keeping  and Mushroom Cultivation  and donor compliance while implementing the project.

Responsibilities:

Main objectives: build relations with major stakeholders and implement the cycle based agriculture training on Tomato, Cabbage& Cauliflower, Cucumber, Bee Keeping and Mushroom Cultivation.

1. Job Responsibilities

Program activity implementation and management
  • Develop training modules and be responsible for all program training activities
  • Planning with process of specific crops and run farmers training
  • Support Manager/ coordinator in project planning, budget management, stakeholder engagement, coordination, creating synergies and leverage in the field.
  • Implement project activities at the field level as per approved work plan and budget, ensuring their effectiveness.
  • Identify issues and risks in project implementation and provide potential measures to address those issues; in close coordination with project team.
  • Mobilize/mentoring the social mobilizer.
Coordination and Liaison:
  • Coordinate, network and develop cooperation with Rural Municipalities/ private sectors, thematic networks and other relevant stakeholders
  • Coordinate monitoring visits of government agencies and donors;
Monitoring, Documentation and Reporting :
  • Make field visits as a part of regular monitoring and provide feedback to the project team.   
  • To collect and maintain field level information and database as required for the project. 
  • Document experiences, lessons learned, best practices, case studies, stories, photos replicable strategies/ approaches and support in knowledge management based on the organization given format 
  • Provide regular and reliable narrative and financial reports with proper billing and legitimate documents where required.
  • Support field coordinator as for need and support to farmers to plant cultivation, processing and promotion. 
General:
  • Carry out other duties and responsibilities assigned by the management.
  • Always try to improve yourself for better performance;

Requirements:

  • Nepalese nationality.
  • Bachelor's degree in agriculture science, or similar (botany, natural resource management, ecology, forestry, horticulture etc.), and at least two years practical field experience of growing tomato, cucumber, cabbage, and mushroom cultivation. OR more than five years of working experience and knowledge of the related field with any educational background.
  • Excellent written and verbal English and Nepali.
  • 15 months’ commitment is required.
  • At least a year of experience working in a rural place in the humanitarian sector. 
  • 85% of the time (average) will be spent in the field, living with the rest of the team under limited conditions. 
  • IT skills: MS Office, to be able to write reports and budget.
  • Salary: following the Wishing Welfare Nepal - BSP scales.
