Environment and Public Health Organization Established in 1990, ENPHO is a service-oriented, scientific, national non-governmental organization that envisages contributing to sustainable community development by combining research and action through integrated programs in the fields of environment and public health. ENPHO runs a government accredited laboratory and promotes eco-friendly technologies with the aim of establishing eco-societies. ENPHO develops and promotes integrated community based approaches for safe water, sustainable sanitation, solid waste management, hygiene behavior and improving indoor air quality monitoring to create healthy societies. Furthermore, knowledge-based education and advocacy campaigns help on achieving ENPHO's mission.

Environment and Public Health Organisation (ENPHO) is a service-oriented national NGO, established in 1990 that envisages contributing in sustainable community development by combining research and actions through the integrated programs in the environment and public health areas.

ENPHO seeks to recruit the following three positions for Enhancing the health sector crisis preparedness in the event of a high intensity earthquake in Kathmandu Valley, Nepal Program based in Kathmandu, Nepal.

JOB TITLE: PROJECT OFFICER (2 position)

KEY TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Promote earthquake preparedness and WASH (water, sanitation and hygiene) facilities and ensure effective coordination of WASH at Health facilities of Kathmandu, Lalitpur and Bhaktapur.
  • Prepare MCM plan inclusive of emergency WASH
  • Non-structural and functional capacity assessment including Emergency WASH
  • Implement project activities in close coordination with donor organizations and local government.
  • Plan and provide technical support to monitor activities/ outputs/ impact and adapt the program as per need to ensure smooth implementation of project activities.
  • Produce monthly, quarterly and annual report including case studies/ best practices
  • Conduct regular field visit and produce field visit report
  • Manage project team in line with organizational policy

REQUIRED QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelors degree in Public Health/Environment Science or any discipline or Bachelor in Civil Engineering with at least 2 years of experience or Diploma of engineering with at least 5 years of experience
  • Knowledge of public health promotion/ engineering or Urban WASH/ DRM and in other relevant areas such as: Community development, DRR education.
  • At least two years of practical experience in NGO/INGO related to community development or DRM in different contexts. Involvement in emergency relief programme is an asset.
  • Capacity to provide formal and informal training to stakeholders and community.
  • Experience and understanding of community mobilization.
  • Sensitivity to the needs of disaster-affected populations and understanding of GESI approach.
  • Good communication skills in English and local languages and ability to work in a team.
  • Skill on computer (Microsoft Package) and written communication skills in English and Nepali.

JOB TITLE: SOCIAL MOBILIZER
(1 position)

KEY TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Support project team by rapport building with institution and local stakeholders to conduct meetings and create environment for meaningful participation.
  • Conduct necessary awareness raising classes/ trainings ensuring participation of women, marginalized and disabled.
  • Facilitate during volunteers mobilization, training participants, task groups etc based on the set criteria.
  • Monitoring of project activities based on plan and checklist and prepares monthly progress report.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Intermediate with at least 2 years of experience on community mobilisation in urban context.
  • Priority will be given to local residence of project area
  • Good knowledge and experience on working with local NGOs and CBOs with a capacity to providing training to local people.
  • Experience and understanding of community mobilization. Sensitive of integrating gender and diversity issues into humanitarian and development programme
  • Good written and spoken Nepali, English and Local languages with negotiation skills.
  • Work under pressure and response to changing project needs.
