Child Protection Officer – LNGB (Leave No Girl Behind)

Location: Based in Rautahat

Reports to: Safeguarding Officer

Introduction

We do so by delivering culturally sensitive, services that advance adolescents’ health, safety, confidence, and leadership skills.

Hamor Palo is currently looking for a qualified and competent Project Manager to lead a five-year program “Leave No Girl Behind (LNGB)” funded by the Girls’ Education Challenge (GEC). The project will be based in Province 2 and focuses on life skill development and school-based programming.

Job description:

  • Based on knowledge and understanding of the project activities, effective implementation of Hamro Palo's all policies and guidelines;
  • Ensure constructive engagement of local stakeholders such as GaunPalika/Nagar Palika head, School Management Committee, Parents Teachers Association, Women groups, cooperatives etc  in all project activities;
  • Ensure minimum safeguarding requirement in all the project activities;
  • Follow through Hamro Palo's Complaint Response Mechanism and timely action;
  • Develop and update policies as and when required;
  • Proper documentation of required resources and documents within the project framework;
  • Guide the program team and supervise all the project activities to ensure the safeguarding of the staff, program participants, contractors, and sub-contractors.  
  • Ensure effective, clear and timely communication between project, partners’, donors’ teams, schools, local level authorities, etc.;
  • Follow the regulations/guidelines of Hamro Palo and funding organization’s policies (branding, accountability, communication, meeting work standard) and also ensure that the same has been properly applied by other project staff during the implementation of the project activities;
  • Engage in regular capacity building, coaching, mentoring and monitoring of project staff as and when required;
  • Lead in conducting training and orientations (basic, advanced and refresher) for the staff and contractors; 
  • Plan and conduct periodic monitoring and observation visits to observe and facilitate the project activities and report on safeguarding issues.
  • Perform others duties as required by the organization.

Qualifications and required skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in education, social work, rural development, or relevant field, with at least 3 years of demonstrated work experience 
  • Knowledge of safeguarding and child protection issues
  • Prior experience of developing policies and conducting trainings will be an added advantage
  • Excellent communication and documentation skill in English and Nepali
  • Ability to maintain professionalism and cultural sensitivity in the field
  • Detail orientation and ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing diverse teams, building and maintaining strong relationships with the project team, partners and local stakeholders.
  • Ability to quickly make decisions and flexibility to react to changing circumstance
