BEE-Group is an autonomous, independent, non-partisan, nonprofit making independent, non-governmental organization (NGO). It was established in 2000 AD, registered in the District Administration Office, Banke, and affiliated with the Social Welfare Council, Nepal. It serves in the Lumbini, Karnali, and Sudurpaschim Provinces of Nepal to protect and promote human rights, environmental conservation, climate change adaptation, disaster risk reduction, building access to quality education, health and WASH services, sustainable livelihoods, and community development. It is working on a rights-based approach to social justice, peace, human rights, environment conservation, sustainable livelihoods, and community development. It works to attain peace, development, and justice through peoples’ meaningful participation and a bottom-up approach to establishing an equitable, healthy, and self-reliant society by building a trustworthy reputation.

BEE-Group is implementing the Improving Maternal, Newborn, and Child Health Project (Baal Swasthya Project) in partnership with Lutheran World Relief. The project's objectives are to contribute to improving the maternal and newborn child health of the targeted community and people in Banke district by enhancing the capacities of health facilities, especially the birthing centers in Nepalgunj Sub-metropolitan City, and raising the targeted communities' awareness of social, behavioral change. 

Position: Field Facilitator – One  

Duty Station: The Project Area of Nepalgunj Sub-metropolitan City - 100% field   

Job Summary: The Field Facilitator works under the direct supervision of the Project Coordinator of the Improving Maternal, newborn, and Child Health project. S/he will be responsible for the implementation of the project activities as planned in the field in coordination with respective birthing centers and local government to strengthen the system of birthing centers for effective service delivery. S/he will support the project coordinator to ensure the success of a project as per the MEAL framework and project’s log frame and achieve the desired results stated in the project document.

Primary Task and Responsibility:

1. Project Activity Implementation:  

  • Support the project coordinator in preparing annual or periodic activity plans for maternal and newborn child health projects and implementing those activities at the municipal level in coordination with local government health departments, health facilities, and health offices. 
  • Work closely with a municipal health department and birthing centers and organize regular meetings and workshops with them in coordination with the health department and for localization of national policies and plans regarding maternal and newborn child health with the integration of local policies and plans. 
  • Participate and facilitate the stakeholders in the seven-step planning process of local government and support the inclusion of maternal and newborn child health agendas in the planning process. 
  • Engage with local like-minded stakeholders and networks and facilitate mobilization to combat harmful practices and social norms regarding maternal and newborn health.
  • Facilitate local communities and relevant stakeholders in mainstreaming gender equality, social Inclusion, and Social Behaviour Change to establish positive social norms in the communities.  
  • Facilitate those community people to regularly ensure the ANC and PNC check-ups as a government-existing protocol. 
  • Responsible for collecting information from the communities and stakeholders and supporting the project coordinator in preparing periodic reports. 
  • Ensure the field-level quality service delivery.

2. Coordination, Liaison, communication, and representation:

  • Work closely with municipalities, public and private authorities, civil society organizations, youth allies, and local health facilities to avoid duplication of project activities and build synergy. 
  • Provide technical assistance to local governments and birthing centers on the planning, implementation, and monitoring of maternal and newborn child health activities based on evidence and aligned with project activities as per the local government's priority. 
  • Maintain relationships with the project participants, local and district government authorities, and relevant stakeholders, ensuring transparency at all levels and timely communication of project information to them.  
  • Support functionalizing the local coordination mechanism at the local level. 
  • Attend the relevant workshops, training, and meetings and express the organizational view regarding maternal and newborn child health.  
  • Support in external and internal field visits.

3. Training, capacity building, and advocacy:

  • Support and organize the capacity-building training and orientation for health personnel and FCHVs at the local level. 
  • Support and organize training and conduct mentorship at the local level and birthing centers for effective service delivery.  
  • Facilitate the local communities for social behaviour change and establish positive norms and values regarding maternal and newborn child health. 
  • Engage with the municipality's civil society organizations and networks for development activities and policy dialogue at the local level regarding maternal and newborn child health. 

4. Documentation, dissemination, and reporting:

  • Support for data collection and reporting.
  • Document best practices, lessons learned, and collection of case studies and share with the project coordinator and the organization.  
  • Prepare monthly and periodic progress reports about the field activities and share them with the project coordinator.   
  • Support the assessments, data collection from health facilities, and surveys conducted in the municipality.

5. Education and Experience:

  • Staff Nurse or Health Assistant with three years of relevant working experience in I/NGO in a similar field. 
  • Proven knowledge and professional experience delivering projects related to maternal and newborn child health. 
  • Well familiar with the locality and communities of the Banke districts. 
  • Proven experience in working under pressure and managing stress. 
  • Strong willingness to work with diverse communities, less advantaged and marginalized communities. 
  • Proven knowledge and experience in working with local government authorities. 
  • Communication skills in both English and Nepali languages at a professional level.
  • Good command of computer skills including email, internet, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint and database management and reporting
