Animal Health Training and Consultancy Service (AHTCS) was established in 2000 as a service-oriented, non-profit making non-governmental organization for improving the living standard of marginalized communities through partnership with national and international organization and agencies. It was started by Animal Health Improvement Program (AHIP) of Rural Development Centre (RDC) under the direction of United Mission to Nepal in 1981 to address the myriad of constraints faced by rural livestock raisers. It is registered in District Administration Office Kaski and affiliated with Social Welfare Council. It works for the benefit of its target communities in the areas of animal health, husbandry and equine welfare. It also addresses need-based livestock-mediated program diversification such as livelihood enhancement via agriculture practices.

VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT

Animal Health Training and Consultancy Service (AHTCS), a service oriented, non-profit making national NGO officiated in Pokhara that works in the areas of animal health and management, equine welfare, influencing, community development, veterinary research, and training to poor, marginalized and needy farmers all over the country. The AHTCS invites application from the dynamic, qualified and highly motivated Nepali citizen for the following position:

1. Position Title: Executive Director

Duty Station: AHTCS Head Office, Pokhara based job with occasional travel to project sites/Kathmandu as and when required.

Reports to: Chairperson/Executive Committee, AHTCS

Job Summary

The Executive Director drives the strategic and organizational development of AHTCS, in particular overall expansion of projects that fits to organizational objectives along with support to technical components of the project, research and volunteer placement. The protection of the organization’s financial assets while ensuring compliance with board directives and applicable grantor, district and national government requirements. Further, the position also provides leadership and overall management direction to ensure that research related to animal care and its cross-cutting issues is done with appropriate support systems with researchers and collaborators.

Qualification requirements

  • Attainment of Master degree preferably PhD in Veterinary Science or Animal Science and experiences in project development, management and reporting.

2. Position Title: Program Officer

Project: Community Goat Production Strengthening Project (CGPSP)

Responsible to: AHTCS Executive Director

Location: AHTCS head office (Pokhara) with frequent travel to project sites (Working station may change as needed)

JOB PURPOSE:

Take lead on CGPSP ensuring effective planning, implementation and reporting of the project interventions under the guidance of Executive Director (ED).

Qualification and experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Veterinary Science or Doctor of Veterinary Medicine or Agriculture Science
  • Preferably 2 years' experience in field of veterinary practice or farmers' training
  • Must have valid Veterinary practice license from NVC only for Doctor of Veterinary Medicine.
  • Have two-wheeler driving license and driving experience would be essential

3. Position Title: Service Provision Officer

Project: Sustainable Equine Welfare through Improved Human Behaviour and Working Environment Project (SEWP)

Responsible to: SEWP Project Coordinator/AHTCS Executive Director

Location: AHTCS field office Nepalgunj, Banke with frequent travel to project sites. (Working station may change as needed)

JOB PURPOSE:

Take lead on service provision theme under the guidance of senior AHTCS vets/SEWP Coordinator 

Qualification and experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Veterinary Science or Doctor of Veterinary Medicine.
  • Preferably 2 years' experience in field of veterinary practice, preferably development sectors
  • Must have valid Veterinary practice license from NVC.
  • Have two wheeler driving license and driving experience would be essential
