Job Title:  Provincial Education Coordinator

Project: Early Grade Reading under School Meals Program

Duty Station: Dhangadhi

This position will be working closely with Provincial Education Directorate of Sudurpachim and Local Education Unit of project areas municipalities and rural municipalities of three Early Grade Reading districts Bajhang, Darchula and Bajura. This Provincial Education Coordinator is expected to establish strong coordination with the district level stakeholders, district program officers, WFP team and partner NGOs. Since this position will have to coordinate with education unit, He/She has to closely work with the provincial ETCs, district training team at the local unit of government. This position will need frequent strategic action-oriented movement in field level to provide technical inputs to Local Government in improving quality of teaching and learning through and ensuring inclusiveness in all aspect within the government system.

Key Responsibility:

A.     Coordination and Liaison with Provincial Government, WFP and other stakeholders:

  • Develop strong coordination and efficient communication among the stakeholders at the provincial level and local level government of project district.
  • Establish strong coordination with WFP team at provincial level, World Ed’s team and other education focused organizations in the Sudurpaschim province and the working districts.
  • Coordinate with Local Government’s Education Units and the Education Focal Person to ensure continue technical support to the teachers and schools for quality enhancement in education as a part of system strengthening. 
  • Establish liaison with Sudurpaschim Social Development Ministry and the Education Planning and Evaluation Department.

B.     Planning: 

  • Provide technical input to provincial and Local Education Units to support them to implement their educational plan. 
  • Support provincial Government to adapt Inclusive Education Plan to improve learning outcome for children with disabilities.
  • Work with project team to develop strategy and action plans by providing information and ideas/knowledge as per the provincial and district level scenarios.
  • Under guidance of the Supervisor, develop an activity implementation and work plan.
  • Support provincial government to develop, strategize, and implement the School Education Sector Plan (SESP) in support of School Meals Program.  

C.     Implementation:

  • Attend the provincial government’s meeting to get information and to provide inputs on their plan on the right time.
  • Conduct technical support visits to Darchula, Bajura and Bajhang.
  • Work closely with project team and contribute in the process of guidelines and other documents development. 
  • Work with project team to lead the events such as an orientation, assessment, trainings etc. 
  • Cultivate strong working relationships with the central level, provincial level and local level Government executing agencies, experts in the field and other likeminded organization.
  • Assist in capacity building of Government and counterparts including for teacher training.

D.     Monitoring and evaluation 

  • Conduct regular monitoring visit in the working districts and provide effective plans of improvement.
  • Actively engage in the monitoring to the field level program activities, proper documentation through reports and communicate with central team timely.
  • Support Monitoring Evaluation and Learning officer (MEL) to obtain the quantitative and qualitative information (case studies) from field on time.
  • Coordinate with WFP provincial team on ensuring quality monitoring and evaluation of the implemented program.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, events, trip and progress reports and submit to the Supervisor.
  • Carry out other works as assigned by Supervisor.

Qualifications 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Education with minimum five years of experience. 
  • Knowledge in Early Grade Reading, Early Grade Math, Inclusive Education and integrated learning is an asset;
  • Extensive knowledge of the country’s education system, policies and strategies; 
  • Extensive experience in training teachers and NGO partner staff on child-centered teaching-learning approaches and local curriculum development is an asset.
  • Results-oriented team player with very good analytical skills and problem-solving attitude; 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and Nepali language; 
  • Excellent computer proficiency (MS) office package;
