Heifer has worked in Nepal since 1957 and has had a permanent corporate office in the country for the past 25 years. Heifer’s economic growth work in Nepal has been funded by its own funding from private donations and work with all donors from USAID, European donors, multi-lateral banks, foundations, private sector partners and the Nepali national and local governments. Our technical assistance projects cover everything from small holder farmers, cooperatives, to women empowerment, local government development, environment, youth employment, entrepreneurship, SME development and value addition for livestock and agriculture products (everything from post- harvest handling, packaging to market linkages).

In addition to our Nepal work, Heifer is currently implementing similar projects throughout 20 offices around world. Heifer International is an equal opportunity employer. Heifer International is currently seeking following positions for the upcoming 5-year USAID-funded Nepal Agricultural Transformation activity. The position is contingent upon award, with an anticipated total value of $25-50 million. 

     1.  Chief of Party Nepal - Proposal

The fulltime Nepal-based Chief of Party will be responsible for the overall management and representation of the project.

     2.  Director of Finance and Administration (DOFA) - Proposal

The fulltime Nepal-based Director of Finance and Administration is responsible for overall financial management, compliance, grants administration, human resources, and operations of the activity. S/he is responsible for ensuring that donor requirements for budget planning, monitoring, and reporting are fully met in a timely manner, and the establishment and management of financial, operational, and administrative systems that support the project.

     3.  Monitoring, Evaluation, Research and Learning (MERL) Director – Proposal

The fulltime Nepal-based MERL Director manages all aspects of the project monitoring, research, evaluation, learning and reporting. He/she manages, analyzes information and reports to the Chief of Party (COP) and provides the project team and partners with feedback on progress toward the achievement of key results as stated in the project annual workplans and project Performance Management Plan (PMP). The MERL Director ensures that the project collects, analyzes, and disseminates accurate data consistently and timely, aggregates project-generated knowledge and lessons learned through routine monitoring and evaluation of the project activities.

     4.  Gender and Social Inclusion Advisor - Proposal

The fulltime Nepal-based Advisor will lead one of the four project components focused on enhancing climate and economic resilience of women, youth, and marginalized communities. Under her/his leadership, the Advisor will assist in integrating marginalized communities through literacy, life skills, and entrepreneurial training that enables women, youth, disadvantaged castes, and ethnic minorities to access agricultural and nutrition interventions. The Advisor will also guide the technical program team in building economic empowerment by removing barriers to livelihood diversification and enhance climate adaptation and mitigation through the promotion of climate smart agriculture, and by supporting planning processes to protect selected value chains.

     5.  Agricultural Private Sector Technical Director - Proposal

The fulltime Nepal-based Technical Director will lead one of the four project components focused on increasing agricultural productivity, competitiveness, and diversification. Under his/her leadership, the Director will assist in advancing the commercial interests of firms through improved business operations trade that pulls smallholder farmers into sustainable supplier relationships. The Director will further assist Nepalese firms’ adoption of technological innovations and best practices to achieve overall agricultural productivity and enhancing their competitiveness.
