1. Introduction
SNV is a global development partner deeply rooted in the African and Asian countries where we operate. With 60 years of experience and a team of approximately 1,600 people, we strengthen capacities and catalyse partnerships that transform agri-food, energy and water systems. Working on the core themes of gender equality and social inclusion, climate adaptation and mitigation, and strong institutions and effective governance, we tailor our approaches to different contexts to achieve large-scale impact and create sustainable and more equitable lives for all.
SNV Netherlands Development Organisation and Water Aid are jointly implementing the WASH Systems for Health (WS4H) programme in Nepal, funded by the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) of the UK Government in Koshi and Madhesh Offices. The programme aims to drive performance improvements at national and selected sub national levels to increase access to sustainable, inclusive, and climate resilient WASH services. Through collective actions with government and stakeholders, the programme contributes to reducing WASH related diseases, particularly among women, children, and climate vulnerable populations.
As part of this project, communicating real WASH challenges and emerging systems strengthening efforts is essential. High quality visual documentation helps stakeholders to better understand progress, bottlenecks and community experiences. The visuals will support documentation of change, communication, learning, and advocacy efforts at provincial, national, and programme levels.
2. Objective of Assignment
The objective of this assignment is to produce high quality visual documentation that captures the:
- Existing status of WASH: including access to water supply and sanitation facilities and services, hygiene behaviours, and management of sanitation and waste streams in municipalities including households, community, health and education institutions, and public places.
- GEDSI and climate aspects: current realities of WASH services for women, children, and persons with disabilities and climate vulnerable contexts.
- Ongoing systems strengthening efforts at the provincial and local government level under the WS4H programme.
To achieve this, the assignment will focus on four main documentation components:
1. Photographs
Capturing high quality still images that showcase existing WASH status, GEDSI and climate aspects, and ongoing systems strengthening efforts under the WS4H programme, and as detailed above.
2. Video Footage of existing WASH Services (WASH status and GEDSI and climate)
Documenting the existing status of WASH and GEDSI and climate aspects as stated above.
These visuals will serve as a baseline for subsequent “after” documentation.
3. Video Footage of On-going Systems Strengthening Activities
Accompanying the Project team and stakeholders and recording ongoing events and processes at the provincial level and at the local government level (e.g. provincial stakeholder meetings and events, NWASH MIS trainings and data collection, WASH planning meetings, ward level engagements, community consultations, and other systems strengthening activities) to illustrate government leadership on WASH, governance processes, and implementation of activities.
4. Testimonial Clips
Short testimonial clips featuring reflections from provincial and local government representatives, WASH committee members, community participants, provincial resource persons, team members, etc., including: status of WASH, challenges, importance of WASH, vision on making progress, ongoing activities, their own role and leadership. The reflections will capture stakeholder experiences and future aspirations for safely managed, inclusive and climate resilient WASH services.
These materials will be used by provincial and local governments, WS4H consortium partners, development agencies, and community stakeholders across presentations, reports, digital platforms, advocacy materials, and learning exchanges. By documenting key events and service conditions, the assignment will create a strong foundation for tracking and communicating progress toward inclusive, climate resilient WASH services.
