CONSULTANCY FOR PROJECT DESIGNING WORKSHOP

1. INTRODUCTION AND CONTEXT

Deutsche Welthungerhilfe e. V. is one of the largest private aid organizations in Germany, with a dual mandate in both development cooperation and humanitarian response. Welthungerhilfe (WHH) fights against hunger and works together with civil society organizations. WHH’s vision is to create a world in which all people can exercise their right to a self-determined life in dignity and justice, free from hunger and poverty.

Operational in Nepal since 2012, the current program portfolio of WHH covers 14 districts (extending from the east to the west), 5 thematic areas, 9 partner organizations, and various civil society organizations. The overall goal in Nepal is to work hand in hand with civil society to empower socially marginalized and economically poor citizens to reinforce their resilience and ensure their right to adequate food and nutrition.

2. OBJECTIVES OF THE ASSIGNMENTS

The major objective of this assignment is to facilitate a three-day project designing workshop. The consultant will be able to facilitate.

  • How to select the project region, what factors to take into account
  • Define project goals, scope and objectives.
  • Identify key risks, challenges, and mitigation strategies.
  • Design ToC and logframe
  • Define different project parameters and relevancy of the approach.
  • Identify the relevant stakeholders and target group
  • Understand project design from a human-centered design perspective
  • Overview of the major donors in Nepal and their project design stages, i.e. differences between concept note / RFIP/ NOFO

3. METHODS AND TOOLS

Consultants are invited to propose participatory training content and methods of training. A full work plan and timeline will be proposed by the consultant, which will thereafter be finalized in close consultation with WHH-Nepal.

The consultants are expected to conduct a three-day training outside of Kathmandu for WHH’s and its partner organization senior management team members. The training venue for the participants will be organized by Welthungerhilfe.

4. EXPECTED OUTPUTS

Participants have enhanced knowledge and skills on developing concept notes and proposal writing for development and humanitarian projects. KEY DELIVERABLES

  • Inception report explaining detailed training content and methodology.
  • Conduct three days' training.
  • Training completion report with photos.
  • Provide participants with training materials.

5. REQUIREMENTS OF CONSULTANT

The consultant/s will need to have the following skill sets and work experience:

  • At least a Master’s degree in development sector specially on development studies, or an equivalent degree.
  • Must have +10 years of working experience in development and humanitarian sector having ample of skill and knowledge on proposal writing and fund raising.
  • Must have prior experience providing training in project design to senior level of development workers of different international organizations.
  • Must have prior work experience with or working for international development organizations and familiarity with development and humanitarian programmes/issues.
  • Fluency in English and Nepali.

6. TIME AND DURATION OF THE ASSIGNMENT

The assignment is expected to be completed by July 30, 2024 (including preparatory work, training, and providing a completion report). The assignment will be effective from the day of the signing of the awarded contract.

7. BUDGET REQUIREMENTS

Consultant(s)/consulting firm are requested to propose the required budget in the financial proposal template below (you can add or remove the budget heads according to your proposal).

8. DEADLINE

The interested and qualified consultant/ consulting firm must submit their technical and financial proposal, and CVs of key personals by 17:00 hours (COB) dated 20 May 2024 via email address given below:

The proposal should include:

  • Technical proposal outlining how the work will be undertaken, the proposed methodology, the team composition, time schedule (around 3 pages maximum)
  • Financial proposal indicating consultancy fee and a breakdown of expenses.
  • CVs of the proposed team members
  • Copy of PAN/VAT registration certificate
  • Copy of company registration certificate
  • Tax Clearance Certificate 2079/80
  • 1-2 sample of previous work/reference letter from organization
