Catholic Relief Services (CRS) is an international humanitarian agency based in the United States working to save, protect, and transform lives in need in more than 100 countries regardless of race, religion or nationality. CRS Nepal started its operational presence in Nepal in response to the 2015 earthquake with emergency support, eventually reaching over 23,000 households in multiple districts with shelter, livelihoods and community infrastructure ensuring accountability to beneficiaries. CRS programs in Nepal currently supports four strategic areas, including Homes and communities, disaster risk reduction and climate change, agriculture and livelihood, and anticipatory actions and emergency response. CRS strives to improve livelihood and resilience of marginalized and vulnerable communities by catalyzing innovation, excellence and system strengthening efforts toward improved integral human development. CRS aims to catalyze transformative changes in lives of marginalized and vulnerable households in country through improved access to safe and dignified housing, improved community resilience to disaster, shocks and stresses, and diversified livelihood opportunities, especially to women and youths. CRS Nepal has been instrumental in implementing multifaceted emergency relief and recovery programs playing a pivotal role in coordinating recovery and reconstruction efforts in responding to the impacts of earthquakes, monsoons, and the COVID-19 pandemic.

Homes and Community (H&C) Programme in CRS Nepal

CRS Nepal’s Strategic Plan (2025-30) prioritizes H&C as one priority programming areas. Building on CRS Nepal’s expertise in shelter interventions, the H&C Program plans to work to increase access of vulnerable and at-risk people to safe and dignified shelters/homes and settlements. To promote and scale up accessible and affordable shelter solutions and resilient housing, CRS Nepal plans to standardize technical solutions, strengthen and localize government system, and promote collaboration within the humanitarian system.

Job Summary: The Technical Coordinator will serve as technical lead for the piloting of Climate and Earthquake Resilient Homes using Lime Stabilized Soil (LSS) in high mountains and supports the capacity building of local and provincial governments in Bagmati province for strengthening building regulatory system. Your expertise and knowledge in LSS technology and improving building regulatory system will deliver high-quality pilot and capacity development works towards generating the proof-of-concept positioning CRS for greater scaling opportunities.
