Team Leader

Center for Dalit Women Nepal (CDWN) and Local Non- Governmental organization is jointly implementing project titled “Pathways from Trauma to Empowerment-Fostering Social Norms Change through Storytelling and Collective Mobilization (Hamro Sahakarya)” in six Local Government Units (LGUs) of Bagmati (Banepa Municipality and Mahabharat Rural Municipality) and Madesh Province (Barahathawa, Malangwa, Haripurwa Municipality, and Bramhapuri Rural Municipality). The project is funded and supported by UN Women and the Government of Finland. The overall goal of this project is to enhance collective leadership and socio-economic opportunities for women and marginalized groups to respond to post-COVID-19 impact and tackle structural gender inequalities.

The project is being implemented to address women and excluded groups’ practical and immediate needs in the evolving COVID-19 context. This is accompanied by interventions to support women recover/rebuild their livelihoods, adversely impacted by the pandemic; as well as enhance their collective leadership for political engagement and movement building for social change.

Specific Results Expected

Result 1: The practical needs and gender-based vulnerabilities are addressed through the provision of essential supplies and services to enable them to meet their immediate socio-economic needs.

Result 2: Women and excluded groups' capacity, voice, and agency are enhanced.

Result 3: The economic security of women and excluded groups is strengthened by providing sustainable livelihood opportunities.

Result 4: Collective mobilization of women and excluded groups is supported for leadership, movement building, and advocacy for social norm change.

Team Leader – Nos.1 (Central officer based, Kathmandu)

Roles and Responsibilities

The team leader will be responsible to lead and overseeing the Hamro Sahakarya project under the supervision of executive director. The team leader will work closely with project teams, partners, consultants and stakeholders to ensure project achievements, compliances, and impact.

The other key responsibilities are:

  • Lead the team to overall organizational development to ensure successful project implementation.
  • Design, monitor, & implement prevention of harmful social norms programs.
  • Coordinate with partners, consultants, and stakeholders to implement the activities.
  • Strengthen strategic partnerships with concerned stakeholders and relevant institutions to enhance program impact.
  • Monitor project activities and subsequent results to achieve project objectives.
  • Track the budget expense and compliance with finance team.
  • Communicate with the funding partner for effective implementation.
  • Lead the final reporting of the project.
  • Contribute to the organization for other fund receiving initiatives.

Required Qualifications, Skills and Knowledge

  • A master's degree or equivalent in Development Studies, Sociology, Gender Studies, Law, Policy, Political Studies or a related field.
  • Minimum five years of working experiences in NGO/INGO sector in a similar position with a focused on Gender-based Violence Project. 
  • Influential leadership and team management skills.
  • Problem solving and good communication skills.
  • Excellent project management and reporting skills.
  • Ability to travel in the project implementation area.
