Position Summary 

We are seeking an experienced Structural Engineer (Steel Detailing) to prepare, review, and coordinate steel structure shop and fabrication drawings for U.S. and international projects. The role will focus on platforms, industrial steel structures, equipment supports, and related structural steel components, with close coordination between engineers, fabricators, and project teams. 

Key Responsibilities 

• Prepare erection, assembly, and shop/fabrication drawings based on general arrangement (GA) and structural design drawings. 

• Develop and review detailing for steel framing, platforms, stairs, handrails, equipment supports, and miscellaneous steel. 

• Detail and review bolted and welded connections, including plates, angles, gussets, stiffeners, bolts, welds, and connection assemblies. 

• Perform 3D model coordination and clash detection to identify conflicts between structural steel and other disciplines or equipment. 

• Review drawings for accuracy, completeness, constructability, dimensions, elevations, member sizes, and compliance with design intent. 

• Participate in meetings with fabricators and shop drawing teams to resolve detailing, fabrication, and constructability issues. 

• Review and respond to RFIs, technical queries, and fabrication-related comments in coordination with structural engineers. 

• Review vendor and fabricator submittals and provide clear technical comments and markups. 

• Prepare or verify steel quantity estimates/material take-offs, including structural members, plates, bolts, and other miscellaneous steel. 

• Coordinate revisions between structural design drawings, erection drawings, and fabrication/shop drawings. 

• Identify discrepancies and coordinate solutions with engineers, fabricators, and AEC teams. 

• Maintain drawing quality, consistency, and project standards throughout the detailing process. 

Required Qualifications & Skills 

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering preferred. 

• 3–5 years of relevant steel detailing experience. 

• Proficiency in Tekla Structures; experience with Advance Steel preferred. 

• Strong understanding of structural steel members, fabrication practices, and shop drawing standards. 

• Good knowledge of welded and bolted steel connections and detailing requirements. 

• Ability to interpret structural design drawings, erection drawings, plans, elevations, sections, and connection details. 

• Experience with 3D coordination and clash detection. 

• Ability to prepare and review material take-offs and steel quantity estimates. 

• Strong attention to detail and ability to independently review drawings before submission. 

• Good written and verbal English communication skills. 

Preferred Qualifications 

• Previous experience working on U.S.-based projects. 

• Experience with industrial steel structures, substations, platforms, equipment supports, and utility infrastructure. 

• Familiarity with U.S. structural steel standards and fabrication practices. 

• Experience coordinating directly with fabricators, engineers, and clients.
