The International Foundation for Electoral Systems (IFES) is an international NGO that supports the building of democratic societies around the world. Since 2006, IFES Nepal has worked with the Election Commission, Nepal (ECN) and local civil society partners to enhance citizen participation and strengthen civil society, governance and transparency.

IFES Nepal is seeking a Social Media Consultant to promote “My Vote My Future” Social Media Platform of IFES. Under the guidance of Country Director and Deputy Country Director, the Social Media Consultant will support a wide-range of social media activities on Facebook, Instagram and TikTok engaging individuals from marginalized communities to maintain and advance the social media presence for IFES’ civic and voter education campaigns. The position is based in Kathmandu.

Main responsibilities include for this role are:

  •          Manage IFES' social media initiatives, and support all social media efforts;

  •       Develop strategic social media calendar with engaging contents and manage social media pages ensuring consistency across all platforms (TikTok, Facebook, Instagram, etc and YouTube);

  •          Create and curate as well as edit short-form videos for IFES’ social media channels – particularly focused on TikTok;

  •          Assume all relevant production and management responsibilities;

  •          Monitor and respond to the activities and responses of the audience/followers after consulting with the IFES Nepal team; 

  •          Support engagement and communication with renowned personalities, celebrities, and social media influencers to expand campaign outreach;

  •        Track views and other relevant account metrics and provide regular updates for monitoring and evaluation purposes. Produce monthly analytics reports on TikTok results, growth, trends;          

  •          Analyze engagement and reach metrics and adjust outreach strategy as needed; 

  •          Ensure effective and prompt communication;

  •          Contribute to the drafting of the post-campaign report;

  •          Function as a pro-active and effective problem solver.   


Minimum Qualifications and Requirements:

  •          Minimum of 2 years of experience with social media and/or other forms of online content management in a comparable professional setting;

  •          Knowledge of social media platforms including Facebook, Instagram and TikTok is required;

  •          Prior experience developing social media strategies for organizations is preferred;

  •          Experience in engaging influencers, artists, etc. for campaigns or productions is highly desired;

  •          Ability to build and cultivate relationships;

  •          Sound editorial judgment related to aspects of social, religious and political issues in Nepal;

  •          Fluency in English and Nepali, both written and oral;

  •          A high level or self-motivation and ability to work autonomously within a fast-paced environment;

  •          Professionalism and high level of discretion;

  •          Ability to take initiative and work within tight deadlines;

  •          Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.
