The International Foundation for Electoral Systems (IFES) is an international NGO that supports the building of democratic societies around the world. Since 2006, IFES Nepal has worked with the Election Commission of Nepal (ECN) and local civil society partners to enhance citizen participation and strengthen civil society, governance and transparency.

IFES Nepal is seeking a Social Media Consultant to promote “My Vote My Future” Social Media Platform of IFES. The consultant will support a wide-range of social media activities on Facebook, Instagram and TikTok engaging first-time youth voters and advance the social media presence for IFES’ civic and voter education campaigns. The Social Media Consultant will work under the direction of the Country Director and Deputy Country Director and will be based in Kathmandu.

Scope of Work:

  • Oversee daily operation of first-time youth voter’s social media pages in close coordination with IFES Nepal team;
  • Support first-time youth voters in creating content for ‘My Vote, My Future’ social media pages in coordination with IFES Nepal team;
  • Support first-time youth voters in tracking activities as per their workplan and social media calendar;
  • Create and post content on IFES’ social media pages in coordination with the IFES Nepal team;
  • Support the development of innovative and engaging approaches to reaching out to first time youth voters. This may include different challenges, games, videos, etc.;
  • Support engagement with artists or social media influencers to expand campaign reach of the first-time youth voters social media platforms;
  • Analyze engagement and reach metrics and adjust outreach strategy as needed from the ‘My Vote, My Future’ social media platforms;
  • Monitor ‘My Vote, My Future’ social media platforms with an eye towards promoting a safe, inclusive space for all users;
  • Provide analytical reports and statistics on ‘My Vote, My Future’ social media presence. Provide regular updates for monitoring and evaluation purposes;
  • Perform any other relevant duties as assigned by Country Director and Deputy Country Director.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 4 years of experience with social media and/or other forms of online content management in a comparable professional setting;
  • A university degree in journalism, communications, marketing, public relations or a related field;
  • Knowledge of social media platforms including Facebook, Instagram and TikTok is required;
  • Prior experience developing social media strategies for organizations is preferred;
  • Experience in engaging artists (music, etc.) for campaigns or productions is highly desired;
  • Experience in hosting large scale digital events;
  • Ability to build and cultivate relationships;
  • Sound editorial judgment related to aspects of social, religious and political issues in Nepal;
  • Basic computer skills (Microsoft Word, Gmail, Microsoft Excel) are required. Familiarity with designing software tools such as Adobe Photoshop and InDesign and design skills are an asset;
  • Fluency in English and Nepali, both written and oral;
  • A high level or self-motivation and ability to work autonomously within a fast-paced environment;
  • Professionalism and high level of discretion;
  • Ability to take initiative and work within tight deadlines;
  • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.
