Rural Education and Environment Development Center (REED Nepal) is a non-governmental organization headquartered in Kathmandu. Our primary goal is to ensure the Inclusive Quality Education. Currently, we are working in 12 districts across Nepal to enhance the quality education in right based approaches and protect children/girls from all forms of abuses, sexual exploitation, including trafficking, and so on. We ensure that their families and communities are supported so that protection is strengthened at source in a sustainable manner. We work closely with government authorities to support and complement their efforts to build better futures for children/ girls where their rights to protection from abuses is guaranteed and education strengthened. A.    Safeguarding Offier-1

Job Qualifications 

Education Level:  Bachelor ( Master Preferable)

Experience Required:  2 Yearin Similar roles in development sector out of 3 years of services in NGO/INGOs

Professional Skills:

  • At least Bachelor’s degree in social sciences, Sociology/Anthropology/ Social Work or any related discipline.
  • Understanding of cultural barriers to women and girls and socially excluded groups, GEDSI in Nepali communities
  • Experience in adapting donor-specific safeguarding content including training, policy, awareness raising and communications tools for use by partners
  • At least 2 years of experience working with I/NGOs, and/or private sector organizations focused on Protection & Safeguarding in education, disaster risk management, Environment and Climate change, agriculture & livelihood and humanitarian assistance.
  • Experience of organizing events, consultation, and trainings and aware of the local contexts of relevant districts.
  • Ability to work in multi projects within deadlines.
  • Experience in developing and conducting training on Protection & Safeguarding Principles, Standards and mechanisms
  • Fluency in English and Nepali languages required. Knowledge of other local languages is preferred. Nepali typing skill is required for the position.
  • Willingness to travel extensively.
  • Good writing and computer skills- MS Office, PowerPoint, Google Drive including gathering information directly from the community and from secondary sources to prepare reports and presentations
  • Negotiation, networking, coordination and representation skills with key local actors is preferred
  • Ability to work effectively with an ethnically diverse team in a sensitive environment.
  • Proven ability to learn quickly, facilitate program implementation to achieve stated results and objectives

Job Description:

a)   Provide technical leadership in safeguarding and protection to all project and implement the policies related to Child Safeguarding and protection across the board,

b)   Strengthen Community Feedback and Complaints Handling Mechanisms on safeguarding and raise awareness of these to community members and staff in the program.

c)   Coordinate the dissemination of safeguarding policies and procedures to the staff, including those of implementing partners and all stakeholders interacting with children and vulnerable groups.

d)   Make sure safeguarding protocols are complied with at all level of management.

e)   Work closely with the CEO, PD and MEAL Manager to generate reporting mechanisms on safeguarding & Protection issues. Conduct referral mapping for GBV, Safeguarding and mental health, and suicide prevention

f)   Take overall responsibility in ensuring that safeguarding principles are adhered to in all community participation activities and other program activities, 

g)   Manage cases of poor practice and abuse reported to the organization

h)   To act as the focal point of contact for any safeguarding, child and adult protection concerns, providing timely, relevant support and/or referrals.

i)   Ensure safeguarding protocols are observed by visitors, including volunteers, interns, vendors and consultants in the program area.

j)   Represent the organization in cluster meetings and other external meetings related to safeguarding at International, National and Sub-National Level.

k)   Play a lead role in maintaining and reviewing the REED Nepal's emergency implementation plan for safeguarding and protection of children and adults.

l)   Prepare monthly reports for submission to the line manager, and actively participate in meetings to update on implementation of protection and safeguarding standards.

m)   Work with SMT and cluster coordinators in districts, to prepare integrated framework to incorporate the issues of safeguarding in the project design, risks assessments, work plans, and design field specific activities and checklists as required.

n)   Act as a focal point (safeguarding and protection) for all day-to-day coordination with the partners, following up deadlines, ensuring adherence to donor and REED Nepal’s  requirements

o)   Working closely Program Team to implement the community engagement activities, consultation, community training to ensure applying Protection and Safeguarding standards.

p)   Support in promoting accountability, specifically to our beneficiaries while actively engaging beneficiary communities as equal partners in the design, monitoring and evaluation of field level activities and assist in reflecting those in central level policies and planning activities.

q)   In coordination with MEAL manager and SMT, collect and review documentary evidence, help draft reports and provide survivor centered support to survivors and witnesses, if requested.

r)   Help identify lessons learned from Safeguarding investigations to consider when revising policies, procedures, and training

s)   Assists in enhancing credibility of safeguarding policies , procedures, investigations to ensure organizational commitment to protection and safeguarding

t)   Make sure that all information related to safeguarding is confidential. 

u)   Design and deliver orientation session integrated into GEDSI trainings, on Protection & Safeguarding 

Monitoring & Evaluation and Reporting

a.   Conduct monitoring and support activities as required for safeguarding and protection.

b.   Monitor community group activities, trainings, consultation, and other community engagement activities

c.   Provide instant exception reports to line manager for the improvements.

d.   Keep up to date records of complaints, investigations and action reports

e.   Assist in program monitoring, evaluation and reporting as instructed by MEAL Manager.

Job Description:

Duty Station:  Kapilvastu

In close collaboration with the Team Leader, the Education Field Officer will be responsible for ensuring efficient and effective implementation of project activities which include empowering girls of schools, coordination with local government units, facilitation in pedagogical part of students,training and capacity building of Child/girls clubs and parenting education to parents of schools and designing radio lessons upon the guidance of team leader and specialists of REED Nepal.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical support and coordinate with project schools, as and when required. 
  • Supporting local government for developing contingency/response plan 
  • Liaise on a consistent and planned basis with schools, logistics, government units to obtain updates on project progress (activities, monitoring data, financial updates, etc.), clarify queries and gather information for reports. 
  • Coordinate with the local governments, schools, and other concerned stakeholders to ensure timely implementation of activities.
  • Liaise with concerned government stakeholders and other project related stakeholders in assigned districts and maintain healthy professional relationships. 
  • Compliances with and implementation of REED’s policies at the project sites
  • Collaborate with all technical and finance/admin colleagues for preparation of project management documents (project progress tracking documents, budget spreadsheets, work plans, project briefing materials, etc.) 
  • Lead in baseline data collection, and quality assurance.
  • Support development of training materials and Radio Lesson preparation.
  • Draft and finalize all field reports of assigned district. 
  • Ensure a consistent flow of information between technical and finance/admin colleagues on project progress. 
  • Maintain efficient project administration and electronic project files. 
  • Organize logistics for project visits, meetings and trainings. 
  • Develop and maintain a knowledge resource of information relevant to the project. 
  • Respond promptly to incoming emails, mail and telephone calls and ensure enquiries are addressed in a timely manner. 
  • Actively participate in staff meetings, team briefings and stakeholders meetings. 
  • Perform other tasks as agreed collaboratively with the team leader, finance and MEAL manager.

In close collaboration with the Education Development Coordinator and Education Program Manager, the Community Development Officers will be responsible for ensuring efficient and effective implementation of project activities which include empowering girls of schools, coordination with local government units, facilitation in pedagogical part of students,training and capacity building of Child/girls clubs and parenting education to parents of schools and designing radio lessons upon the guidance of team leader and specialists of REED Nepal.

Responsibilities:

a.     To Hold regular meetings in coordination with RMs and stakeholders,

b.     To Assist in preparing Community Orientation Packages and conduct orientations to the community people,

c.     To assist in preparing child club mobilization concepts and to mobilize them accordingly,

d.     To assist in preparing SMC/PTA training packages and to conduct SMC/PTA trainings,

e.     To assist in preparing Parents Orientation packages and conduct the orientations,

f.    This position requires strong working knowledge of MS office ( Word and Excel) and must have Nepali typing skill,

g.    Ability to work effectively with an ethnically diverse team and communities in a sensitive environment.

h.    Ability to work in a Team with better understanding of cooperation, coordination, communication, respect, and humility,

i.    Have experience in and knowledge of teachers’ training, and distance learning,

j.    Have good understanding of School Library , Classroom management, educational materials (Teaching/Learning), and office management,

k.    Have knowledge of current educational policies at national and regional level,

o.      Creative and talented in any disciplines such as writing poems/ songs, playing sports/musical instruments, singing, dancing, paintings, etc. to lead extra-curricular activities,  

p.     To be able to carry out regular monitoring and school support activities in schools in the project area,

q.     To work as a Co-facilitator  during teachers’ trainings,

r.     To  coordinate with Central level MEAL, Finance and Program Team to implement the project activities effectively,

s.     Willing to work in any palikas of Solukhumbu district to achieve the objectives of the organizations.
