Voices of Women Media aims to build feminist leadership and effect changes in society’s treatment of girls & women in order to create a just world without discrimination. VOW Media wants to contribute to a world where everyone enjoys their basic rights and live with dignity, equality, and justice. We are a non-profit organization that is committed to offering access and opportunities to media technology and different forms of art, so that girls & women can voice their own lives – in order to raise hidden and silenced issues in our communities. Our work focuses specifically on access to media, arts and technology for girls and women. We also run various campaigns which plays a role in contributing to cultural & social change in our communities. Telling one’s own story—claiming one’s voice—changes a person and a community in ways that support larger social change by building agency as well as both individual and collective power.

VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT

Voices of Women Media (VOW Media) is seeking an enthusiastic and dynamic Resource Center & Knowledge Management Officer who will lead Junkiri: the feminist library, an initiative of VOW Media. The Officer will be responsible for an effective and efficient management of library resources and services to support information access, literacy, and feminist learning. The role involves not only cataloguing, organizing, and assisting users in locating and utilizing resources but also organizing workshops, programs and holding feminist events throughout the year.

Main tasks as a Resource Center & Knowledge Management Officer

  • Feminist knowledge building and narrative shaping such as curate, document, organize, and disseminate feminist knowledge, resources, research, and narratives to strengthen learning, advocacy, and movement-building.
  • Manage the day-to-day operations of the library and ensure that the collection and spaces are organized, accessible, and welcoming.
  • Catalog, classify, and maintain library materials using library management systems.
  • Aid visitors in locating and using resources effectively.
  • Plan, coordinate, and facilitate workshops, reading sessions, community programs, and other library activities.
  • Curate and purchase books based on reader needs and organizational priorities.
  • Upkeep the Junkiri social media channels regularly.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures for library usage and activities.
  • Emulate feminist values in practice during interaction with visitors.
  • Promote reading and upkeep feminist social norms specially while working with children and young adults.
  • Updated with the current library of science and technology.

Requirements

  • A bachelor's or master's degree in related fields.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a similar role.
  • Knowledge in library management software and digital cataloging tools.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and service skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • A feminist and an activist with strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Must be a sensitive, people person as you will be interacting with people all day.
  • Passion for literacy, learning, and public service.
  • Understanding child pedagogy, experiential learning, critical thinking, and a plus.
