About the position
The Research, Monitoring and Evaluation Coordinator leads FAIRMED’s Research, M&E, and Knowledge Management functions to ensure effective measurement, documentation, learning, and use of evidence across projects. The position is responsible for developing M&E strategies and tools, managing centralized databases, conducting data analysis and research, ensuring data quality, and producing reports and knowledge products. S/he shares findings to support evidence-based decision-making, advocacy, and program improvement; facilitates M&E capacity-building; and provides feedback to project teams to strengthen program effectiveness, accountability, and demonstration of tangible results and outcomes.
Major job responsibilities
- Lead research and evidence generation, including identifying research priorities, developing methodologies and tools, and ensuring ethical and quality standards.
- Strengthen and oversee M&E systems, frameworks, indicators, and tools, including LogAlto, KoboCollect, and QGIS, with a focus on project performance and the Leave No One Behind (LNOB) approach.
- Ensure timely, accurate, and quality data collection, analysis, reporting, and documentation across projects, including semi-annual, annual, and donor reports.
- Facilitate baseline, mid-term, and final evaluations, monitoring visits, and data quality assessments in coordination with project teams, partners, government, and other stakeholders.
- Provide technical support, training, and mentoring to project staff and partners on research, M&E, data management, and reporting.
- Analyze M&E and research findings to identify trends, gaps, and lessons, and translate evidence into actionable recommendations for program improvement and strategic decision-making.
- Support the Head of Programs in project design, proposal development, evidence generation, and knowledge management, including development of thematic papers, technical briefs, and learning products.
- Represent FAIRMED in relevant research, M&E, health-system platforms, technical working groups, and policy forums.
Required Qualifications and Experiences
- At least Master’s degree in public health, epidemiology, health statistics or any other relevant health or social sciences with health system experience
- At least 7 years’ experience in research, monitoring, evaluation, developing and implementing monitoring and evaluation strategies
- Experience of conducting quantitative and/or qualitative research or studies preferably operational and or implementation research
- Proven knowledge of current issues and innovation in M&E, skill in knowledge management
- Experience in the usage of frequently used decent statistical software packages
- Skills to critically analyze data and generate relevant reports to guide program to make informed decisions
- Experience in capacity development of staff and or partners in research, monitoring & evaluation, and information management system
- Experience of working in Nepal’s health system and governance issues
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and Nepali and Teamwork.
