Timeline and Reporting

Title: International Fish Feed Formulation Consultant

Location: Lalitpur, Nepal (remote and field work). Field visits required across 14 districts in 5 provinces (Koshi, Madhesh, Bagmati, Gandaki, and Lumbini).

Reporting to: Deputy Chief of Party (DCoP)

Level of Effort: 20 days (remote and field-based)

Background

Corus International is a family of organizations committed to expanding opportunities for people facing challenging circumstances. Formed through the strategic merger of IMA World Health and Lutheran World Relief, Corus operates globally across livelihoods, health, and resilience programming.

The USDA-funded Aquaculture Development in Nepal project aims to increase aquaculture sector profitability, strengthen financial services, enhance sanitary and phytosanitary (SPS) compliance, and promote safe fish consumption across 14 districts in five provinces of Nepal.

Under Component 2 (Increase Aquaculture Sector Profitability), the project will strengthen feed formulation systems, improve mill-level quality assurance and control (QA/QC), and enhance farm-level feeding practices to reduce Feed Conversion Ratio (FCR) and improve production efficiency.

In Year 1, the project will work with selected feed mills, hatcheries, and producer groups to optimize species-specific feed formulations and strengthen quality control systems, with strong engagement from private sector actors and farmer groups.

Objective

To optimize fish feed formulation and strengthen feed mill QA/QC systems in Nepal in order to improve feed efficiency, reduce FCR, enhance nutrient consistency, and increase farm-level productivity.
