Designation: Project Officer-DRR/CCA

Location: Dang and Banke District Under Caritas Nepal, Provincial office, Kohalpur

Background:

Caritas Nepal, with financial and technical support from CRS Nepal, is currently implementing the Preparing communities and local leaders towards climate-Resilience, disaster Preparedness, Anticipatory actions, and early Recovery (PREPARE) project. This project aims to support vulnerable and marginalized communities living along the Rapti River Basin in Banke and Dang Districts. The project will implement its activities in 16 wards of the 4 Municipalities which are Rapti Sonari Rural Municipality and Duduwa Rural Municipality in Banke District, Lamahi Municipality and Rajpur Rural Municipality in Dang Districts and will support 1500 HHs through disaster risk reduction and preparedness activities and 750 HHs through climate smart agriculture and resilient livelihood activities.

Position Purpose:

The Project Officer – DRR/CCA will provide technical and strategic leadership for the design, implementation, and monitoring of disaster risk reduction, climate resilience, anticipatory actions, recovery, and Nature-based Solutions (NbS) interventions under the PREPARE Project. The officer will focus on enhancing community resilience, strengthening local governance for disaster preparedness, and integrating innovative and sustainable solutions into planning processes. S/he will ensure that project interventions are inclusive, participatory, and climate-sensitive, and align with local and national disaster risk reduction policies. S/he will contribute to advancing the resilience agenda in PREPARE coordinating and bringing together the sectoral implementation DRR, climate resilient livelihoods and youth engagement activities.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Master’s degree in environmental science, Natural Resource Management, Disaster Risk Management (DRM), Climate Studies, Forestry, Civil/Rural Engineering, or a related field (master’s degree preferred).
  • Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in DRR/CCA, NbS, disaster resilience, and climate adaptation programming.
  • Strong technical knowledge of bioengineering, ecosystem restoration, climate-resilient infrastructure, and community-based disaster risk reduction.
  • Practical experience working with local governments, community-based organizations, and vulnerable communities in disaster-prone areas.
  • Strong facilitation, training, and community mobilization skills.
  • Knowledge of MEAL frameworks and ability to monitor, document, and report field interventions.
  • Excellent communication and reporting skills in both Nepali and English.
  • Proficiency in MS Office; GIS or mapping tools and AutoCAD is an advantage.
  • Must possess a valid two-wheeler driving license and be willing to travel frequently to field sites in remote and rugged terrain.
