Job Title: Project Officer 

Reports to: District Program Coordinator and Provincial Manager

Project: Nepal Livelihood and Resilience Program (NLRP-II)

Location: Bardiya

Program Overview:

The overarching goal of NLRP-II is to enable vulnerable farming households and communities to realize improved social well-being and resilience.

NLRP-II has structured five interrelated thematic pillars:

Food Security and Climate Resilience: Enhancing food security and climate adaptation by promoting climate-smart and sustainable agriculture through homestead farming, climate-smart agricultural practices, and Integrated Pest Management via Farmers Field Schools (IPM–FFS)

Livelihoods and Enterprise Development: Improving livelihoods through skill development, vocational training, business planning, grant support, value chain development, and market linkages. 

Cooperative Development: Strengthening cooperatives development through capacity building, improved governance, and increased transparency.

Social Protection and Inclusion: Ensuring access to safety nets while promoting gender equality, Disability and social inclusion, community protection and social justice by empowering marginalized groups and fostering inclusive community structures.

Realization of Child Rights: Creating safe and child-friendly environments by strengthening school-based child clubs and community protection systems. The program ensures children’s access to education, health, nutrition, and protection services, and safeguards them from abuse, neglect, exploitation, and discrimination, while promoting their meaningful participation in families, schools, and communities.

 Adopting a participatory "learning by doing, Asset Based Community Driven Development (ABCD), and Community led" approach, NLRP-II equips communities.

Position Overview:

The Program Officer will oversee the implementation of all project activities in Bardiya, including conducting training sessions for farmers and community groups, coordinating with local stakeholders and government agencies, strengthening cooperatives, facilitating child club mobilization, and ensuring effective monitoring and supervision of project staff. Timely and accurate reporting of activities and progress will be maintained to ensure transparency and accountability.

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Rural Development, Social Sciences, Development Studies, Sociology, or a related field.

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in community engagement and project implementation, preferably in the social and child sectors.

  • Strong knowledge and experience in gender equality, disability and social inclusion (GEDSI), child rights, and livelihoods related activity implementation.

  • Proven experience in facilitating training sessions, workshops, and community mobilization activities.

  • Fluency in Nepali and English, both written and spoken; knowledge of local languages is an advantage.

  • Familiarity with local contexts, customs, and cultures in Bardiya district is preferred.

  • Valid two-wheeler driving license is required.
