Description:

A 3-year grassroots project on disaster risk reduction education targeting school teachers will start from November 2022. This is the third phase of the project supported by Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and implemented through Information Sector Service Center (INSEC) based in Kathmandu. The project is a joint initiative among Plus Arts (Japan), CityNet (Japan) and INSEC (Nepal).

The third phase project will aim at developing further educational tools on disaster prevention education particularly to be used by schools and utilize them through school DRR clubs and expanding to communities. The project activities will be based in Kathmandu valley.

Employment Type:

1-year contract renewable for 3 years upon satisfactory performance.

Required Qualifications:

Education:

  • Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in Primary Education, Disaster Education, Sociology or related discipline.

Direct Work Experience: 

  • At least 3 years of previous related work experience in school/ educational setting, community trainings and developing educational tools.
  • Experience in conducting or organizing trainings, seminars, workshops or facilitation in English and Nepali for municipal authorities, school teachers, community leaders and students.
  • Capable of creative and innovative work including designing or producing communication and display material.

Functional Competencies: 

  • Assist in establishing networks and partnerships with prospective partners and members in Nepal.
  • Translations of working documents and/ or presentations when required from English to Nepali and vice-versa.
  • Write simple and/ or complex communication products (e.g. newsletters, annual report, short note series, brochures) to communicate consistent and coherent strategic messages about the project to be disseminated online or in printed format.

Languages:

  • Native level fluency in English and Nepali (Written/ Typed and Verbal). 
  • Additional Asian languages would be an asset.

Other skills or advantages: 

  • Excellent skills in general MS Office applications and good knowledge on design software (Illustrator, In Design), Word Press would be an asset.

Starting date*:

November 15, 2022. Negotiable

*First three months will be a probationary period.

Salary:

Starting NPR 45,000 per month (during probation) with increase in final monthly salary and benefits after probation to NPR 52,000 per month based on qualifications and performance. Taxes will be deducted from the stated amount.

Stage 2: Final interview (English/Nepali) for the selected candidate will be held during November 15, 2022.
