‘Renewable Energy Access for Livelihoods in fragile buffer Zones (REALiZe)’ Project Phase II funded by the Jersey Overseas Aid (JOA) will be jointly implemented by Renewable World (RW) Nepal, Local Initiatives for Biodiversity, Research and Development (LI-BIRD) and local partners in Surkhet from July 2025 to December 2029. This project forms part of a wider ‘Renewable Energy for Change’ programme and aims to bring systemic change in the sustainable management of the northern buffer zone area of Bardiya National Parks with tangible improvements in livelihoods using renewable energy access. The project promotes conservation-friendly livelihoods, clean energy, women’s empowerment, and climate-resilient farming. It aims to foster collaboration between communities and decision-makers, transforming conflict into coexistence.

LI-BIRD invites applications from eligible and qualified Nepali citizens who are committed and have the ability to deliver results with the highest integrity for the following positions:

1. Project Coordinator (PC) - Conservation and Livelihood (Level 9) - (1): To be based at Birendrangar, Surkhet

Job Summary: The Project Coordinator/Conservation and Livelihood (PC) will report to Strategic Programme Lead; Biodiversity and Ecosystem Health and will be responsible to coordinate and provide technical support from LI-BIRD and lead conservation and value chain components of the project by providing  leadership in areas of planning, implementation, monitoring, coordination and reporting. The PC provides strategic input to the project and leads the components of forest resource management, systematically identifying and promoting value chains, building capacity of local partner NGOs and coordinates with local and national level stakeholders. The PC ensures proper management of the project resources including human resources and budget. PC needs to establish the highest level of coordination with governments, partners, Community Forest User Group (CFUG)s, schools, Buffer Zone Management Committees (BZMCs), National Park Authorities and other key stakeholders at the local, provincial and national level. S/he is also required to work closely with RW and various units at LI-BIRD to ensure adequate coordination and programme synergies.

Education and Experience:  Masters Degree in Forestry with five years of work experience in designing, implementing, monitoring and reporting livelihood related programme  in rural settings specifically in buffer zone areas. Experience in forest-based enterprise and agriculture value chain development, promotion of renewable energy-based technologies contributing to livelihood and nature conservation.
