Project Title: Strengthening Social Protection System, Child-Friendly Governance, and Disability

National Environment and Equity Development Society Nepal (NEEDSNepal) is a humanitarian organization operating in Sudurpaschim province since 1999. With expertise in areas such as safe migration, climate resilience, vocational training, and women’s empowerment, NEEDS Nepal integrates Gender Equality and Social Inclusion (GESI) and Good Governance across its initiatives, making significant strides in sustainable development. 

NEEDS Nepal in collaboration with Social Protection Civil Society Network (SPCSN) and supported by UNICEF is implementing the project “Strengthening Social Protection System, Child-Friendly Governance, and Disability” across 10 local governments within SudurPaschim province. The project aims to strengthen social protection system, promote child-friendly governance, and enhance inclusion of persons with disabilities. This initiative seeks to address critical issues affecting vulnerable populations, particularly children and persons with disabilities, by implementing sustainable interventions and fostering inclusive policies. 

NEEDS Nepal invites applications for the following positions from interested and eligible candidates

1. Position: Project Coordinator (1)

Duty Station: Mahendranagar, Nepal

Duration: 2 years 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Develop and implement project work plans, ensuring alignment with project goals and objectives.
  • Coordinate with partner organizations, including UNICEF, SPCSN, and local authorities, to facilitate smooth project implementation.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to field staff in the planning, execution, monitoring, and evaluation of project activities.
  • Conduct regular field visits to project sites to monitor progress, identify challenges, and provide necessary support for timely resolution.
  • Liaise with community leaders, stakeholders, and beneficiaries to foster community engagement and ensure their active participation in project activities.
  • Oversee the budgeting and financial management of the project, ensuring compliance with donor requirements and organizational policies.
  • Prepare and submit timely project progress reports, including narrative and financial reports, to relevant stakeholders.
  • Coordinate capacity-building initiatives for project staff to enhance their skills and knowledge in areas relevant to the project objectives.
  • Advocate for policy reforms and institutional changes to promote child-friendly governance, increase the access of person with disability and enhance social protection mechanisms.
  • Ensure proper documentation of project activities, including case studies, success stories, and lessons learned, for knowledge sharing and dissemination.

Qualifications and Competencies Required: 

  • Master's degree in Social Sciences, Development Studies / Rural Development, Public Administration, or related field.
  • At least 5 years of relevant experience in project management, preferably in the field of social protection, child rights, or disability inclusion.
  • Proven experience in coordinating and implementing development projects, particularly in partnership with UN agencies and civil society organizations.
  • Strong understanding of social protection systems, child-friendly governance, public finance for children and disability inclusion issues in Nepal.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and networking skills, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Extensive knowledge in project planning, budgeting, monitoring, and evaluation.
  • Demonstrated leadership and team management skills, with the ability to work independently and under pressure.
  • Fluency in English and Nepali languages, both written and spoken.
  • Familiarity with computer applications, including MS Office suite and project management tools.

2. Position: Field Facilitators (4)

Project Location: Bajhang-1 (Masta, Khaptadchhanna & Durgathai) Doti-Kailali-1 (Jorayal, Chure)  Kailali-1 (Dhangadi, Godawari ), Bajura Badimalika and Doti Dipayal Silgadi-1

Duration: 2 years 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Establishing and maintaining effective communication channels with communities, local stakeholders, and project beneficiaries to ensure their active participation 
  • Conduct regular field visits to project sites to monitor progress, assess challenges, and areas for improvement
  • Facilitate community meetings, workshops, and awareness sessions to promote community engagement and participation in project activities.
  • Advocate for the rights of vulnerable populations, particularly children and persons with disabilities
  • Assist in the identification and selection of project beneficiaries, ensuring inclusivity and equity in beneficiary selection processes.
  • Compiling accurate and timely reports, case studies, and success stories to document project achievements, lessons learned and impact at the community level
  • Ensure compliance with project guidelines, standards, and donor requirements in all field operations and activities.
  • Provide regular updates and reports on field activities, progress, and challenges to the Project Coordinator and other relevant stakeholders.

Qualifications and Competencies Required: 

  • Bachelor's degree in Social Sciences, Development Studies, Community Development, or related field.
  • Prior experience working in community development projects, preferably in the fields of social protection, child rights, or disability inclusion.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively communicate and engage with diverse stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of local context, cultural sensitivities, and community dynamics in Sudurpaschim province.
  • Proficiency in Nepali and English languages, both written and spoken.
  • Ability to work independently in remote areas and willingness to travel extensively within the project area.
  • Commitment to gender equality, social inclusion, and human rights principles.
