Project Coordinator – Transboundary Community Resilience Project in South Asia

MADE Nepal is a national non-governmental organization committed to improving the livelihoods and resilience of vulnerable communities through sustainable development initiatives. MADE Nepal is currently implementing the Transboundary Community Resilience Project in South Asia in Susta Rural Municipality, Nawalparasi West, with financial support from the Lutheran World Federation (LWF).

Position Details

Position Title: Project Coordinator

Duty Station: Susta Rural Municipality, Nawalparasi West

Project: Transboundary Community Resilience Project in South Asia

Duration: 6 Months (with possibility of extension based on project performance and funding availability)

Number of Positions: 1

Employment Type: Full-time, Field-based

Key Responsibilities

The Project Coordinator will be responsible for the overall coordination, implementation, monitoring, and reporting of project activities related to Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR), Climate Change Adaptation, Livelihood Improvement, and WASH.

Major Duties and Responsibilities

  • Lead the planning, implementation, monitoring, and documentation of project activities in coordination with local stakeholders.
  • Coordinate community-based Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) and climate resilience interventions.
  • Facilitate vulnerability assessments, risk mapping, preparedness planning, and resilience-building activities.
  • Support implementation of climate change adaptation and sustainable livelihood initiatives.
  • Coordinate WASH-related activities and promote community awareness on hygiene and sanitation.
  • Ensure timely implementation of project work plans, targets, and deliverables.
  • Establish and maintain effective coordination with local government authorities, community groups, cooperatives, and other stakeholders.
  • Organize trainings, workshops, meetings, exposure visits, and awareness campaigns.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and final project reports, success stories, case studies, and other project documentation.
  • Conduct regular field monitoring visits and provide technical guidance to project staff and community groups.
  • Ensure compliance with donor requirements, organizational policies, and safeguarding standards.
  • Support financial planning, budget monitoring, procurement processes, and project administration.
  • Collect, analyze, and report project data and indicators for monitoring and evaluation purposes.
  • Represent MADE Nepal in project-related meetings and coordination forums at local level.
  • Perform any other project-related tasks assigned by the organization.

Required Qualifications and Experience

Essential Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Disaster Risk Reduction, Environmental Science, Climate Change, Rural Development, Agriculture, Social Work, Development Studies, Public Health, or a related field. Master's degree will be an added advantage.
  • Minimum 3 years of relevant professional experience in managing or coordinating development projects.
  • Demonstrated experience in at least two of the following sectors:
    • Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR)
    • Climate Change Adaptation
    • Livelihoods and Economic Empowerment
    • Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH)

Required Skills and Competencies

  • Strong understanding of community-based disaster risk management and climate resilience approaches.
  • Experience working with local governments, community organizations, and vulnerable communities.
  • Excellent planning, coordination, facilitation, and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Strong report writing and documentation skills in both English and Nepali.
  • Good knowledge of project monitoring, data collection, and result-based management.
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Ability to work independently in remote field locations and under pressure.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and team management skills.

Preferred

  • Prior experience working with international NGOs or donor-funded projects.
  • Familiarity with the local context of Nawalparasi West and Susta Rural Municipality.
  • Valid motorcycle/scooter driving license.
