Job Description:

Project Coordinator – 1 Position (Achham / Bajura)

Project: Strengthening Health Systems for the Provision of Mental Health and Psychosocial Support Services in Rural Municipalities of Sudurpaschim and Lumbini Province (Supported by GIZ)

Duration: Initially one year with possible extension based on performance and funding availability.

Overall Purpose:

The Project Coordinator is primarily responsible for ensuring the quality implementation of the GIZ-supported “Strengthening Health Systems for the Provision of Mental Health and Psychosocial Support Services in Rural Municipalities of Sudurpaschim and Lumbini Province” project. Under the supervision of the Program Manager, the Project Coordinator will lead project planning, implementation, monitoring, and reporting in close collaboration with provincial and local governments, ensuring technical quality, team coordination, and adherence to organizational and funding partners’ standards.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

Project Management:

  • Develop detailed implementation plan and periodic plans in coordination with project team and MEAL unit.
  • Carry out periodic review, tracking, and reporting of results as per project document.
  • Work closely with Finance Unit to ensure program and financial aspects are on track.
  • Coordinate with advocacy and program units to integrate local-level learning into national policy work.
  • Facilitate federal, provincial, and local level advocacy events on mental health and psychosocial disability issues.
  • Coordinate monitoring and support visits from the central level and funding partners.

HR Management:

  • Supervise the project team, ensuring performance through feedback, coaching, and mentoring.
  • Facilitate performance management, JD updates, leave plan, timesheet, and field visit schedules.
  • Promote team learning and professional development opportunities.
  • Ensure safe, inclusive, and productive work environment.
  • Conduct monthly team reviews and share updates with the supervisor.
  • Documentation, Database Management, MEAL and Reporting:
  • Guide the preparation of project reports (monthly, quarterly, annual) ensuring quality, accuracy, and timeliness.
  • Maintain a comprehensive project database and means of verification, ensuring data accuracy and confidentiality.
  • Lead data collection, database management, and collaboration with the MEAL unit to support evidence-based project planning, monitoring, and evaluation.
  • Support field-level documentation of learning, success stories, and best practices for wider dissemination.
  • Ensure compliance with donor and organizational reporting requirements, formats, and deadlines.

Safety & Security:

  • Ensure safety and security of project staff and assets.
  • Identify potential risks and implement mitigation measures.

Safeguarding:

  • Ensure compliance with all safeguarding and prevention of sexual exploitation, abuse and harassment (PSEAH) policies.
  • Promote safeguarding awareness among project teams and stakeholders.

Others:

  • Perform any other duties as assigned by the supervisor to support effective project operations.

Qualification and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in psychology, Public Health, Social Work, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
  • Minimum of 7 years of relevant experience with a Bachelor’s degree, or 5 years with a Master’s degree, in project coordination or management within the fields of MHPSS or disability inclusion.
  • Proven experience in team supervision, partnership management, and multi-stakeholder coordination at different levels.
  • Strong leadership, interpersonal communication, analytical, and donor reporting skills.
