UN Nepal Gorkha

Unification Nepal Gorkha (UN-Nepal), registered in the District Administration Office (DAO) Gorkha and Social Welfare Council (SWC) in the year 2009, is a non-profit making child-focused organization formed by a team of youth NGO professionals for sustainable development across the country. It is autonomous and politically non partisan organization which is governed by its constitution, financial and administrative policy and code of conduct and other various policies. The organization is implementing various projects with multiple donors and INGOs at Gorkha district and few projects are under pipeline.

Details / requirements:

Unification Nepal (UN-Nepal) Gorkha is an autonomous, non-profit, non-governmental, non-party secular youth led organization. It is registered in the District Administration Office Gorkha (2009) and affiliated to Social Welfare Council. UN-Nepal was formed by a group of youths professionals hailing from various disciplines who wanted integrate research with social action for sustainable development towards sustainable peace and prosperity. Its constant endeavor has been to conduct action oriented, participatory condition of poor, the disadvantage and the oppressed. It emphasized participatory community development through various cross-cutting issues and empowerment of women in a more and just equitable world where these disadvantaged people, particularly, women and oppressed have a chance to mould their destinies. UN-Nepal is governed by its constitution, financial and administrative policy, code of conduct and other several policy instruments.  

Currently, UN Nepal has partnering with World Vision International Nepal, Oxfam, Poverty Alleviation Fund, WWF Nepal, Care Nepal, Nagarik Aawaz, Lalitpur, Concern Worldwide, RedR India other various organizations ongoing recovery and regular development work in Gorkha. 

Currently UN Nepal Gorkha seeks the following staff for Shelter Project for Gorkha district which is funded by Care Nepal.  

Program Coordinator- Funded by Care/ADH

The Programme Coordinator will be responsible for overall management of the'Stronger communities and safer habitat: Promoting self-recovery' which includes program and partnership management, quality assurance, coordination and reporting. S/he is primarily working together in close coordination with Executive Director of UN NEPAL , District Shelter Coordinator of CARE Nepal, Quality Assurance Officers (Reconstruction and DRR), GBV officer, Consortium members, and other reconstruction Projects.

Programme and Partnership Management

  • Coordinate and manage the 'Stronger communities and safer habitat: Promoting self-recovery' in Gorkha as per plan and budget.
  • Understand post disaster context and be familiar with recovery initiatives being undertaken by the government agencies and other stakeholders
  • Orienting to staff and stakeholders about programme and assist them to better results.
  • Provide assistance to the team members in preparing results-based plan and budget in line with the project document following participatory process
  • Ensure quality of work implementation as per plan with in framework and budget in line with project documents.
  • Build rapport with relevant government and non-government organizations and strengthen support to the implementing project

Monitoring, Reporting and Evaluation

  • Conduct monitoring of activities against the approved work plan and budget and partnership agreement 
  • Update to the Executive Director and Partners about monitoring findings along with critical issues and challenges
  • Arrange for monitoring field activities against the approved work plan and budget and partnership agreement and provide inputs to the field staffs.
  • Prepare Colllect periodic reports from staffs and review them ensuring quality of the report and provide necessary feedback
  • Coordinate and facilaite conducitng social audit and other forms of evalations and assessemnts of the programme and its results by the community people and other stakeholders
  • Coordinate for the internal and external evalaution/assessment/survey commissioned by the UN NEPAL /or funding partners

Networking and Alliance Strengthening

  • Find space in and build rapport with networks and alliance (non-government and inter-government) and best utilize it for the benefit of project and orgnization.
  • Coordinate with DDRC/Clusters/DDCs/VDCs and other relevant government and non-government mechanism in the district with reference to disaster recovery and reconstruction work
  • Participate and report the work progress at cluster meeting in regular basis.

Financial Management and Human Resources

  • Maintain appropriate control environment at the project level and support staffs and ensure best utilization of resources
  • Produce and submit periodic progress and financial reports to the UN NEPAL  management and partners

Requirements: University degree or equivalent experience especially Development studies, economics, sociology, humanities Management, social science or related field. Experience and knowledge of monitoring, evaluation and needs/impact assessment method, Skills in designing and implementing information management and performance measurement frameworks, strong interpersonal and organizational skills, and ability to work under pressure, - Proven analytical and problem solving skills,  Strong computer proficiency, particularly with Microsoft Excel and Word, and ability to use computer programs to collect, document and share assessment and monitoring results, at least 2 yrs experience, able to write and communicate in English.
