Dalit Ethnic Upliftment Center (DEUC), Bara is a well-established non-governmental organization with 23 years of experience working for the empowerment of Dalit, Janjati, and other marginalized communities. DEUC operates through grassroots, rights-based approach that fosters inclusion, community ownership, and long-term sustainability. Its work begins with participatory community mobilization, forming and strengthening self-help groups, youth networks, and women’s forums that lead local change.
DEUC integrates capacity building, advocacy, and service delivery across key sectors such as education, livelihoods, food security, WASH, gender equity, and social protection. The organization collaborates with local governments, civil society, and development partners to design inclusive, context-specific programs. DEUC’s advocacy efforts are grounded in field realities, amplifying grassroots voices to influence policy and dismantle systems of inequality. Committed to social justice and inclusive economic development, DEUC is seeking qualified and dedicated individuals to join our team under “Enhancing Economic Opportunities for Marginalized Communities project” in promoting commercial vegetable farming and rural entrepreneurship in Bara district.
1. Plant Junior Technician Assistant (PJTA) - 1
Duty Station: Field-based
Duration: Initially 6 months (with possibility of extension based on performance)
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead farmer selection and group formation through participatory processes with emphasis on Dalit and marginalized communities.
- Provide regular onsite technical backstopping tailored to local agro-climatic conditions and selected crops.
- Support farmers in Geo App installation and usage for plot planning, pest alerts, and market price updates.
- Guide development and implementation of individual crop calendars covering land prep, inputs, irrigation, dam support and pest management.
- Conduct routine farm visits offering onsite solutions in seedling production, disease control, irrigation, and post-harvest handling.
- Support access to start-up inputs, agricultural tools, suppliers, and initial market linkages.
- Facilitate linkages with local traders and collection centers to improve market access.
- Maintain detailed progress records of each farmer and conduct monthly reviews with groups and technical staff for adaptive learning.
- Keeping the record of entrepreneurs sale and income (daily basis and monthly progress)
Qualifications:
- Minimum Plant JTA Certificate from a recognized institution.
- At least 2 years of experience in field-based agricultural extension, preferably in vegetable production.
- Familiarity with agriculture digital tools (Geo Apps, smartphones) is highly desirable.
- Commitment to working with vulnerable and marginalized groups, including women and Dalit households.
- Strong interpersonal and facilitation skills.
- Local language proficiency (Bhojpuri/Nepali) is essential.
- Report writing in Nepali or English
